The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are ...

The Grocery Buggy

  • Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31 NIV

After coming out of the grocery store, I found that I had parked way out in the parking lot and did not really feel like taking the buggy all the way back to the store. I saw a few other carts nearby that people had left in the parking lot. As I thought of just leaving my grocery buggy there with the others, this scripture came to my mind: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I knew without a doubt that it was the Holy Spirit. Convicted, I gathered the buggies together and took them all back. It was a small thing, but God starts with small things. If you obey, He will give you bigger ones. Imagine the world if everyone obeyed this one commandment. It would be an entirely different place. You could walk the streets safely, there would be no abuse, murders, robberies, and there would be a lot less divorce.

If you would like to make the world a better place today, try and follow this commandment. It is simple to understand, but by no means easy to do. He that is faithful in a little, will also be faithful with a lot (Luke 16:10). You can change the world one buggy at a time.

Prayer: Father, please show me the areas in my life that need improvement. Point things out to me that You would like me to change, in the name of Jesus.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Oh Pastor Todd, I did the exact same thing--I am so thrilled to hear you admit this, because the store manager laughed and thought I was CRAZY for what I did! In fact, he called a bunch of other employees to watch me perform! Then, feeling quite bold, I picked up yellow plastic bags that had been lying around! I know darn well they all suspected the negative, but I didn't care. You see, I have that reputation in town as being the "crazy Jesus lady." So, I'm used to the taunts. But the teasing would have broken me when I was a kid in grammar school and Jr High; in fact, I recently  blogged about the bullying on my blog, hookinandpraying.com

Kathy Banfield BTW, when the manager asked why I did that, I replied, "Because if I had a supermarket, I'd want someone to do the same for ME!" He just walked away.

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt This is truly faith in action. Listening to Gods voice and acting on this is true Christianity. It is true that if I obey in small things, God will give me bigger things to do for Him and It is not just for me but For others to see God at work in my life and most of all to glorfy God.  Jermiah 33:3, Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know. I want to live this verse, and to experance the great and mighty things God has for me. Thank you God for how you work in our lives.

Patty Martin
Patty Martin Pastor Todd, This has happened to me so many times.  Even in the rain, I have pushed my cart to the designated cart area and often the carts left in parking spaces by others.  I often feel the tug of the enemy and hear him saying, "You didn't leave those other carts, so forget it. You're not getting paid to move them, someone else is.  Let them do their jobs.  Leave yours too!"  I have to admit there were many times when I did just that.  But something happens to us once we develop an intimate relationship with Jesus.  I've come to realize that there are two voices that I often hear....the one that follows the word of God and the one that doesn't.   I follow the inner voice that I know is the Holy Spirit.  It took me years to realize that the positive inner voice I hear wasn't just my conscience, but was the Holy Spirit, and the negative voice I hear that ridicules the word of God is the enemy.  I have come to realize that God gives us little choices to make in life before He gives us the big ones.  I've also come to realize that those little choices are significant in the eyes of our Father.  Thank you so much for reminding me of this.
