In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led Israel out and in. Yahweh said to you, You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel. So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahwe...

Inspiration from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about inspiration, when a creative idea suddenly downloads into your brain. That is not an accident. It happens for a purpose, and it may be more important than we think. Let’s begin in Jeremiah chapter 1 verse 4: T...

Yahweh's angel found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain on the way to Shur. He said, 'Hagar, Sarai's servant, where did you come from? Where are you going?' She said, 'I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.' Genesis 16:7 WEBHagar wandered alone in the desert. She...

Simple Man

  • In that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying, 'Who then is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?' Jesus called a little child to himself, and set him in the midst of them, and said, 'Most assuredly I tell you, unless you turn, and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever therefore humbles himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.' Matthew 18:1 WEB

When children are born, they depend on their parents for everything. They do not have the strength, resources, or knowledge to make it alone and they could not live without the help of their parents. They are tender hearted and hurt easily because they do not have the cynical shell that we grow to protect us as we get older, much like a hard shell crab. They do not respect one person above another one.

As adults, we grow to be much different. We love to be independent, and the greatest. We respect one person above another for so many reasons. Our lives get busy, complicated, and filled with selfish ambition. Our trinity becomes me, myself, and I. We build up walls to keep out the pain and when we block the pain, it also blocks things like love and trust. No one can really get close to us anymore, and we really have no time for them anyway. Welcome to the world that we live in.

Jesus called for a return to the simple, humble life of a childlike demeanor. To be teachable, loving, humble, and innocent. To forget about who is the greatest among us, and to lay aside our selfish pride. To look to our Father for our needs and obey His voice. The greatest in the kingdom of God will be the simple man, or woman, that manages to shake off the worldly standard that we are so accustomed to, and to become something better.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You today for helping me to remove my shell. Help me get back to the simple childlike faith of trusting You day by day. Help me find balance in the way that I look at others and let me see them through Your eyes, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: For those interested in capturing or viewing photos of God's creation, here is this week's theme message from Creation Photographers: Psalm 46:10 - 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.' This week's fun theme will be "Standing Still" and is open for interpretation as usual. You are also encouraged to post anything else that inspires you as well.My photos today make me stand still and know God is an awesome Father who not only cares for the baby starlings and its family, but also blesses us each day with gifts of Love, Hope, Grace, Mercy, & Provisions in abundance. May you always walk in God's Love and Light! Here is the link to participate in this group: Creation Photographers group

Father Yahweh has been cracking my shell for some time now. But,I welcome it and I remember when I was a child, before innocense was stolen from me by the enemy. I remember being taught about Yehoshua as a shepherd and a picture of Him carying a little lamb and another of Him carying a little child. I always related the two together. Now as then and again, every time I read His name I get that same feeling and am reminded that I am His child; a lamb that was lost that He searched for and brought me back into His fold. Thank You Adoni Yehoshua and praise You for not leaving me to myself and my waywardness.

Amen! When I watched our 2year old grandduaghter saturday ( almost 3) the very same to came to my mind about have much purer they are than us, trusting, loving, tender hearted and depending on us to take care of them. That little granddaughter is the apple of my eye, Just like her mother was when she was little. This devotional hits the nail on the head, we as christians need to endeavor to become childlike before God, Being Humble Honest and Depending on our heavenly father.

Sometimes I had to learn to push aside my pride and follow God's instruction. Sometimes it was hard for me, but I learned to move with faith.

Oh, how I wished I had known the Lord when I was young.  If I had, my children would not have gone through some of the terrible circumstances they were subjected to because of my behavior. I am so grateful though that our Lord saved me and my children are coming to know Him also. I believe with all my heart that our Lord will save all of my children. I pray to see this before He calls me home. Thank you Pastor Dion for this inspirational devoitional.

I have learned to get back to the basics by becoming simply a child of God. He is my Abba Father and I can do nothing without His guidance and wisdom. I give Him and Jesus full charge of my life and I have found His peace because of it. It's much more a blessing to trust in my Abba Father and to lean on Him then to try to fix all the messes in my life and my loved ones lives. As a child growing up I leaned upon my earthly dad and never worried because I trusted him to take care of me. Now as a child of God I trust Him to take care of me and my loved ones, and I no longer have to carry that burden. There is a great freedom in this, a great and blessed assurance and much peace.
