The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn't dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. Acts 17:24 WEBWhen I was growing up, we us...

RHM Devotional: Heroes and Monsters from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the potential of being a Hero, or a Monster, that exists inside each one of us. We get to choose. Once when Jesus was preaching from a boat, He told a parable about a man that sowed wheat in H...

He said to them, 'Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.' Mark 16:15 WEBJesus spoke these words to the eleven Apostles before He ascended to heaven. There is so much that could be said about this, but today we cover 'The Gospel.' The word Gospel means 'glad tidings, good...

One Drop of Blood

  • Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,' that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13 WEB

In Roman times, slaves were sold on an auction block under a spear. When a spear was held out over their head, it signified that this was a slave for sale. In Romans 7:14 Paul wrote that he was a slave, sold under sin. Sin was the spear being held over him. Sin was the cause of him being a slave.

Slaves have no say about what they will do with their lives. It is up to the slave master to decide. One may be a cook, and another a prostitute. One may appear more respectable than another, but really they are just serving their masters wishes. Anyone unredeemed is in this state of existence. They are used by satan in whatever way he wishes to use them.

Jesus came one day and bought us back. Redeemed literally means: 'To Buy Back.' With His own blood, Jesus bought us slaves back from the devil and now we are free people. The devil can no longer make you be a prostitute or a drug dealer. His power over you is now broken. When you accept Jesus, you are no longer a slave to sin.

In fact, it goes much farther than that. Not only were we slaves that He bought back, we were set free from condemnation (John 3:18), free from judgement (John 5:24), free from the power of death (John 8:51), and our alienation from God ended because God adopted us into His own family (John 1:12). If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed' (John 8:36). Truly no one could have said it better.

That said, what you feed in your life will grow, and what you starve will die. Each time that you resist temptation, you will grow stronger against it and it will become easier to resist. The opposite is true as well. Each time that you yield to temptation, you become weaker, and it becomes easier to do it the next time.

With the precious blood of His only Son Jesus, God bought us back from slavery. No longer are we in bondage unless we choose to be by our own actions. He can open the cell door, but sometimes we remain in the cell because it is what we are used to. Through the Blood of Jesus, I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for saving me and setting me apart. I long for more of You in my life. Thank You for redeeming me from the curse of the law. Set me free from the things that hold me back and guide my every step. Take away the desires that are not of You, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Thank you Father Yahweh that you count me worthy to be your child through Yeshua Christ's sacrifice. And,that as your child I recognize the refining process that you're putting me through. I know that you bring out the best in me and I thank you. I know that you know who and what is best for me. Thank you for teaching and guiding me. Thank you for whatever reason you see fit for me surviving all the near death experiences since I was in my mother's womb,my own wife's departure and return to you and till now. I am still here because of your good reason,by your grace and I praise You Heavenly Father! In Yeshua's name it is so!

Pastor Dion, you said:  "He can open the cell door, but sometimes we remain in the cell because it is what we are used to." This reminds me of the story of the elephant and the rope. In some cultures, baby elephants are tied to a tree with ropes. As they age, they remain tied to the trees with ropes because they do not realize that they have the mass and the power to move away from the trees/ropes. It's amazing that we as believers can unknowingly be of the same mindset. I, for one, have been guilty of this very thing; and have allowed the enemy to wreak havoc on my mind. I took authority one day while reading some prayers from a book out loud. I noticed the difference in my mindset immediately. I realized the power that I hold in Christ. I'm continuing to learn. It is my prayer that we all come to the full realization of who we are in Him.
