Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me; declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure; Isaiah 46:9'10 WEB.During a sci-fi n...

An Open Door

  • Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 ESV

Access to God was very limited before Jesus came. There was a thick curtain in the temple that separated the people from the Holy of Holies where Gods presence dwelt. When Jesus hung on the cross and said, It is finished, this curtain was torn from the top to the bottom, opening the way for us (Matt. 27:51). His door is now open.

Our heavenly Father has made a way for us to boldly come to Him and tell Him anything on our heart, at any time. Knowing that He only has our best interests in mind. He will not be surprised or shocked at what you tell Him. He will not get angry. In fact there is nothing that you can tell Him that He does not already know, but it will set you free and take a burden off of your own shoulders.

Come boldly to the Lord in prayer and talk to Him as you would your best friend. Pray about everything; you often have not because you ask not. Develop that close relationship. Pay the price, it is worth it. Dig deeper, there are good things hidden there. Involve God in your everyday life and include Him in your decisions with not my will, but Yours, be done.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield AMEN! I often pause to thank God for sending and sacrificing His only Son for me--that sure makes MY issues seem rather small in comparison! Same with Mary--I believe She can emphasize with us, because She understands pain--She watched helplessly as Her Son was crucified and killed!

Nell Neathery
Nell Neathery Praise the Lord for this great devotional.  "I am going to lay down my burdens down by the riverside!"  When I lived in Shreveport, LA, there was the Red River that ran north and south in between Shreveport and Bossier City (they are called twin cities).  A favorite motto these days:  Exercise:  Walk with God daily!

Kim Lerch Susy Marshall that saying about "God helps those who help themselves" is not in the bible but was penned by Ben Franklin in the Farmers Almanac. His Will be done, not ours.

Susy Marshall
Susy Marshall It is very easy for me to praise the Lord for everything He does for me and everyone else.  I do it all day long.  Thank you Lord for a beautiful day, Thank you for the beautiful snow, etc.  I can pray for other people's needs.  But when it comes my needs I balk.  If it is something that only He can provide the prayers are going strong and He always answers them.  Maybe not when or how I would like it But they are always answered.  If I am extremely upset, for instance: my son-in-law was lost in the mountains in the snow, He answers immediately.  As I was praying a warm feeling just came over me, going from my head to my toes.  I knew He had heard me and my child was going to be found soon.  And he was.  Bless you Lord!!   But we are now having financial problems and I have a hard time asking the Lord for help as this should be something I should be able to help myself with.  But nothing I do helps.  As I type this, with tears in my eyes, I do see a faint glimmer of hope at the end of a very long tunnel.  I just hope and pray that I can get it done before I lose my brother and sister in the process.

Susy Marshall Ask your Dr. about a Lanocain cream.  Mine had the pharmacy make a compound with Lanocain, gabapatin and a couple of others.  It really helps with pain.  I pray that that Lord will bring through this pain.  God Bless you.
