  • For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2Tim. 1:7 ESV

Have you ever felt a sense of dread come over you? Have you been afraid of that monster in the closet or under your bed? My older brother who had the driver's license, was a horror movie fan and I must have seen every one released while growing up. Do not let that happen to your children. For years, I paid the price and I still despise them today. Why would someone do that with a chainsaw?

After I started drawing closer to God, He revealed to me that fear is rooted in not trusting Him. Though it can be a very powerful enemy to overcome, He is the ultimate power. Faith is believing that God will protect you. Fear is believing that He will not. If you grew up like I did and your brain was trained to think a certain way, it can take a while to retrain your thought patterns. I had to memorize this verse and say it often.

Gods Holy Spirit gives us power, love and a sound, disciplined mind which is the complete opposite of fear and panic. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Let your mind be renewed and take on the mind of Christ. If God is for us, who can stand against us? Think positive and do not dwell on what may happen, because it may not. Put your trust in Him and do not try and work it all out in your mind. God knows the end from beginning and He is well able to prepare you for what is coming.

Treena Williams
Treena Williams Thank you, all my life I grew up in fear! My mother practice witch craft, she would do things to scare us kids all the time when my dad was at work! Thank God sent a wonderful friend to my life ,who was Christian and spending time at her house and her family and going to church with them basically saved my life and my family! Over the years I was able to show them Jesus ! Fear is a dangerous thing ! I have now come to learn that lesson more so as an adult living alone and being my self for the first time in my life, I have to remind my self daily I am not alone Christ is with me every step ,every second of the day! I sing the song to my self Whom shall I fear when I feel that creeping up inside me and soon my fears are washed away by the blood of the lamb! Thank you !

Leslie McLea
Leslie McLea This is very timely Pastor Dion. With all the blood work I have done, and what it revealed and the doctors highlight my body is being set up for the perfect storm, highlighting stroke or heart attack in my future. This haunts me I the night as I hear whispers of Heart Attack. But MY GOD  knows when my time will come, I have to trust in HIM. Thank you for this message. Think positive and do not dwell on what may happen, because it may not. Put your trust in Him and do not try and work it all out in your mind. God knows the end from beginning and He is well able to prepare you for what is coming.

Rose Sicilia
Rose Sicilia My brother always tried to scare me when he had to babysit me. From a young child I never liked anything scary or evil because I knew it existed in the world. After becoming a Christian I realized the Lord is my Savior and protects me just as the Lord was tempted when something scares me I say get behind me satin I obey only my Lord and it disappears. My Lord protects me I trust only in the Lord. His will be done. Amen

Sylvia Todd In addition to introducing fear, the main thing I can't stand about horror movies is they seem display people as idiots. We were at Dion's brother's house during a holiday and some horror movie was on in which the baddie jumped on top of a bus full of high school kids and punched a hole through the roof, pulling one of the kids up and out. One by one, those kids would walk up to the hole and peer up through it, of course getting pulled up through the roof. Dumb people filled with fear is not a good model for a victorious life ;-).

Theresa Smith I had a discussion with my friend yesterday about this scenario." you are afraid and living in fear over what may or may not happen in a situation when you should be turning it  over  to God and accepting the outcome. He knows how the  story will end, so whyyyyyyy fret?" I'm going to let her read this message today. Thank you Pastor  Todd for the confirmation. God is so awesome

Sue Keller
Sue Keller I avoided horror movies. Maybe every few years, I'd check one out, mostly the supernatural, ghostly kind. I saw "The Conjuring" and it terrified me....until I realized I just didn't have time for that nonsense. It also occurred to me that I've gone up against committees of 10 to 15 people in my son's special education IEP meetings who, apparently were Godless or cowards, since they broke the law in every meeting. I never won but I kicked butt along the way. If I could take on these unholy people, I had nothing left over for nonsense like ghosts and demons. They may well exist...I just didn't care. Mind you, this was all BEFORE I came back to God. Now that I've turned back to God, ghosts and demons are as nothing. They may well exist....but God's got me now.

Karen Pasquinelli I am 69 and used to be afraid of dying, I am not anymore.  When I had my hysterectomy 2 years ago I told my husband and my kids that if I don't come back it is because I saw the light.  I didn't see anything so here I am (hahahaha).  I am not perfect by any means but I do believe Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour therefore I have no fear.

Ruth Martin
Ruth Martin Very good words to read. I have spent most of my adult life not doing things I really want to experience because I have been too afraid. My Bryan is helping me try to overcome my fears. Sometimes it is depressing, because I finally think I am at a breakthrough and I lose it. Of all my fears, heights and deep water are the worse. Year before last we went on a cruise with our Granddaughter for her 13th Bday. They have a rope course up on the top deck. I watched all those people going through it. When Bryan and Kristin came back, I knew I had to try. It looked so darned fun. I went up, geared up, listened to the safety talk. Then I put my foot out on the first rope. Scared? Yes, but I was determined to do it. I made it across the first rope. I made it to the end platform of the second rope, and couldn't get onto the platform. I had lost my balance and could not swing my foot to the platform. I freaked. Bryan quickly realized what was going on and sent one of the safety guards after me, who then helped me turn around and go back to the beginning. I had only made it two of 6 ropes. I was devastated. I went back to our cabin and hid for the rest of the day. My husband kept telling me that I should be proud because I tried. Not finishing was nothing compared to the fact that I actually got up there and tried. Last year, we went to Jamaica and I signed up for a beginners zip line course. It about killed me walking through the heat and humidity and rough terrain, but I made it to the entrance. Bryan was behind and kept telling me how proud he was and that even if I didn't think I could go through with it He was very proud of me. I prayed. Took a deep breath. It was my turn to launch. . .and I did! I had an absolutely FABULOUS time. I look forward to going again in the future. Am I over my fear of heights, not yet. But I know I will be and I thank God He sent my Husband to help me through these terrifying hurdles.

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler I use to say when very young alone in my room scared to turn light off as I was to go to sleep...you know God whether I keep the light on or turn it off it will get me anyway so I might as well turn it off.  And I slept.  That was a new beginning.  I did not grow up in a Christian home yet I knew God was with me.  I need to keep practicing over & over &..........   I ask for prayer please.  We seemed to be hit with costly fixtures like steps of cement fell a part during Winter and have to be fixed,  our plumbing behind the toilet is leaking now and turn off handle once bowl is filled after a flush, and a painter is due to come we owe the other half then.  Our shutters are peeling where no roof is to protect and the porch the same everywhere.  My husband did it before and it lasted some years now he is getting older and busy after working long hours driving truck all nite.  We believe in tithing and offerings.  So I am asking God to dumped down some on us from His store house.  And sing & praise to wait.  It is hard yet I will strive as to trust when fearful.  It rains it pours.  We have had rainy dreary days and my knees are very painful.  My new knee is to me this way and guess to accept it.  The other supposely good knee is filling with fluid and looks to need surgery yet want to wait til Thanksgiving time to have him take off with some paid holidays.  I see surgeon next week.  Thanks Pastor for being soooo real.....I absorb it.  I know no other way.  Just to be me with Jesus.

kylie dempsey
kylie dempsey Lol...all this talk of horror movies has awakened memories of so-called scary movies I've seen in the past. But God has a sense of humor. I used to work with a lady who was very difficult to get along with. Not many people liked her. Some major psychological issues to I suspect...but I found it spiritually draining working there. Until in my spirit, God told me a large demon occupied her house...but I had nothing to fear. Well, I had fear of coming face to face with this creature and was scared....God told me one day that I'd seen to many horror films and to stop being scared...lol!
