Therefore Jesus answered them, 'Don't murmur among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me. Yahweh will fulfill that which concerns me; your loving kindness, Yahweh, endures forever. Don't forsake the works of your own hands. Psalm 138:7 ...

Carbon Copies

  • Now Yahweh's word came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.' Then I said, 'Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, I don't know how to speak; for I am a child.' Jeremiah 1:4 WEB

Jeremiah tried to reason with the Lord and explain about why he was not the one for this prophet job, but the Lord would not take no for an answer. Jeremiah felt inadequate, but the Lord had appointed Jeremiah as a prophet before he was even born. Jeremiah had not yet done anything, either good or bad, yet the Lord had already made plans for his life and equipped him for it.

God did not choose Jeremiah because he was wealthy, or because of his charisma, or because he was popular. God said that He formed Jeremiah in the womb. He could have made Jeremiah anything that He wanted him to be, and He did just that. Jeremiah came with the toolkit that was needed to fulfill his purpose.

Likewise, so do you. God made you the way that He wanted you to be and you have skills that others do not. You shall not covet anything that is your neighbors (Deuteronomy 5:21). I would call rejecting the original you that God created and then desiring to have your neighbor's life instead, 'an original sin.' God did not create us to be carbon copies of another. We are each unique and special to Him.

You are who God wanted you to be. Our choices and actions can be good or bad, but as a person, we are who God made us to be. So stop being so critical. Don't look down on yourself because you are not wealthy, or not as popular as someone else. Stop trying to be like someone else and just be who God created you to be. That is when your life will find its true meaning and purpose.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for creating me. Please unlock the skills and gifts that You have placed in my life and teach me to utilize them to their fullest extent. Help me become the best version of myself, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." (Jeremiah 29:12). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Amen, when we live in peace with ourselves and strive not to please man or compete with others we find our true fulfillment in life. We are each unique and our differences make us "special". This is why no one shares the same fingerprints. We may look alike such as identical twins, but even they have different characteristics and fingerprints. When we learn to embrace our identity and truly endeavor to be , "ourselves", we find Shalom.
