Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they didn't repent. 'Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Bu...

The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn't dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. Acts 17:24 WEBWhen I was growing up, we us...

RHM Devotional: Heroes and Monsters from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the potential of being a Hero, or a Monster, that exists inside each one of us. We get to choose. Once when Jesus was preaching from a boat, He told a parable about a man that sowed wheat in H...

The Repetition Competition

  • For you don't delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart. Psalms 51:16 WEB

When I first came to the Lord, I was so ecstatic that I wanted to make up for everything that I had ever done wrong in the past. I enrolled in Bible college and like many others there, I developed a very legalistic view. I fasted for weeks, gave all that I had, tried to memorize the Bible, prayed all day, and listened to the Bible all night.

I wanted to earn my salvation and prove that my dedication to the Lord was stronger than everyone else there. But soon school just became a repetition competition, where we just repeated the things that we had heard someone else say. My knowledge was shallow.

Oh I knew a lot about Jesus, I just did not know Him.I talked a lot about Jesus, but I never really talked to Him. I sang a lot about Jesus, but I did not sing to Him. Jesus said that there would be those who called Him "Lord, Lord" and He would say, 'I never knew you.' Well that was me in a nutshell. I was so busy trying to be a good Christian, that I had no time for Him.

The Lord eventually broke me down to nothing, stripped away everything that I had, and separated me from everyone that I knew. It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. I decided that I must have disappointed Him somehow. I must have taken too many wrong turns in life and He finally gave up on me. I had many excuses as to why He did not use me in ministry, but the whole time, He was preparing me.

Finally I dropped my 'Church Face' and started to just be 'Dion.' I began to involve God in my everyday life and talked with Him like a friend. I learned to relax, and to include Him in whatever decision I had to make that day. Only then did a relationship begin to develop between us, and that soon became life changing. Like the tiny mustard seed, faith will grow.

Attending church, fasting, praying, giving, reading the Bible, singing, is all good in moderation, but let Him be the focus, and do not neglect Him while you are doing it. Believe me, you can, because I have done it. I encourage you to make Jesus a part of your normal life each day. Be a real person, serving God the best you can. When you stumble, repent and get back up. Be honest with Him, for He already knows who you really are.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for loving me. Please help me be a better person, and make me stable. Lead me to where You want me and open the door that You want me to go through. Come into my life and be a part of it today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." (Jeremiah 29:12) If you are in need of prayer, please do send your requests to our private prayer network, where we and the prayer team join together for you! RHM Prayer Network

In 1989, I made a decission to turn my will and my life over to a power greater than myself. {GOD} I have noticed that every time I take controll of that will, I make a mess of things. My relationship with my heavenly Father may be different from yours but I have found that; "Father Knows Best"

Good morning RHM family.  I have a testimony to share. It maybe out of context but I love to share it. We have a winter storm( Calgary, Alberta Canada) and it started 5:00 pm yesterday  overnight and even until now.  I have to remove the snow early morning before it becomes too heavy to shovel and little  worried for being a senior, it is a bit difficult for me.  So with four layers I went out to do my shoveling.  As I was doing it, a young kind gentleman (my snow angel from the LORD) came and help me with my shoveling.  The angel was provided by GOD for a help.  Angels are everywhere and I believe they exist.  Praise the LORD and thank you LORD.
