If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

Walk on Water from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. An extraordinary event unfolds in Matthew chapter 14, one that is unparalleled elsewhere in the Bible: a common fisherman defying the laws of nature by walking on water. This miraculous feat wasn't performed by Jesus, but rather by Peter, a ...

One Step at a Time

  • By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went. By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. Hebrews 11:8 WEB

The Lord told Abram to leave his father's house and country and travel to a land that He would show him in Genesis chapter 12. After this it simply says, "So Abram went as the Lord had told him." What a step of faith it was for Abram to leave his country and his family, without even knowing where he was going.

At this point God had not done anything for Abram yet, except to tell him to leave his home. Yet he stayed positive, completely convinced that God was able to do what He had told him. Abram did not have to leave his country at all if he had chosen not to. He made a choice to do what God told him and now we read about Abraham, the father of nations. If Abram had chosen not to go, God would have used someone else and we might be reading about someone named Mathias, the father of nations.

Only the first step of God's plan was revealed to Abram: 'leave this place.' Then after Abram obeyed, God gave him the next step. He walked with God one step at a time, often not understanding why or where. When God tested Abram by asking him to sacrifice Issac, do you think that he wondered why? I would have. Abram was successful in life because He trusted God. That is the essence of faith.

Many times in my life I did not understand what the Lord was doing or why. I just had to take that next step and trust that the problem was going to work itself out, and it did, time after time after time. If you hold onto what God has told you and walk through the doors that He opens for you, things will work out. Though it is a narrow path lined with thorns, He has cleared the way in front of you. So stop looking to the left or the right, and focus on Jesus. Trust Him and do not let fear and unbelief hold you back. You do not have to understand where this is going or why, because He does.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for taking care of me. I know that You can see the big picture while I am limited to just today. Please draw my heart to You Lord and let me know You in a deeper way, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for taking care of me. I know that You can see the big picture while I am limited to just today. Please draw my heart to You Lord and let me know You in a deeper way, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Father I am truly in awe of how well you provide! I know I've been whiny and crabby about some of our challenges in life but I am really thankful you see through that to the grateful heart I really have... I felt fear of homelessness and you made sure we had shelter, I felt fear of no transportation and you gave us ways to get around until you blessed us with our own truck again, I've felt loss of family and friends through this all and you made sure I had new friends who showed me more love and support than many of my life long friends ever could/would. I've been humbled, and lifted, and cared for in ways that only you Lord, Father, could have provided. Thank you for never leaving me and always holding us through the tuff spots and in the happy moments too. Please bless abundantly and without measure, those that have stepped up to your call to lend a hand and help others in their time of need. Please give us the means  and the heart to "Pay it forward" and help others as you call us to as well. Give my husband and I listening ears and a heart that follows only you. Thank you for each and every day you gift us with. In Jesus name ~ Amen

Thanks Perry. Yea, we have an issue with the blog posting but being invisible at the moment. If you have a link, you can view it. Editing and resaving it seems to fix it. There are several things "wrong" at the moment as usual with a major upgrade. I have a running list of bugs here in front of me and work on them one at a time, so thanks for keeping an eye out and letting us know when you find something.

Amen, In Exodus 23:29 God told the Nation of Israel that he would not give them the promise land in just one year  in order that they could hold the land. If God moved in our time, we probably could not handle it. Let patients have it's perfect work in you!

Wow, I was just praying for God’s will in my decision of going back to school and he had showed me Genesis 12:1 as a word that I should go to school. Then I read today’s devotional and there it is, Genesis 12:1...... confirmation!
