RHM Devotional: The Chain of Command from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the chain of command in the Kingdom of God. When we began RHM, I was blown away by some of the prayer requests that we received. Many people confused God with Santa Claus. I remember one in p...

David therefore departed there, and escaped to the cave of Adullam: and when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him. Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented, gathered themselves to him; and he became captain...
  • Peter answered him and said, 'Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.' He said, 'Come!' Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, 'Lord, save ...

A Carrot on a Stick

  • Samson said to his father, 'Get her for me, for she pleases me well.' But his father and his mother didn't know that it was of Yahweh; for he sought an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines ruled over Israel. Judges 14:3 WEB

Samson the Hebrew wanted to marry a Philistine woman and it upset his parents terribly. 'What on earth is wrong with that kid?' his parents must have thought. Yet this desire was given to him by the Lord. The 'She pleases me well' that Samson felt came directly from the Lord. Samson's destiny was down this path and he was drawn to it just like a horse can be led by a carrot on a stick. His parents did not understand his passion, or his desire because it was not their calling. The Lord was leading him into his destiny while Samson thought that he was following his own path.

When I was growing up, I had such a strong desire to work with computers, even though I grew up on a farm and we did not own one. It seemed so impossible that I did not even pray about it and no one that I knew shared an interest in them. But that desire never left, and when I eventually gathered enough parts, I built my own computer that was housed in a cardboard box for a casing. Fast forward twenty years and I find myself spreading the gospel over the Internet, using computers. It was no accident; I was led here for such a time as this.

That nagging desire that you have that will not go away may very well be from the Lord, and will one day be used for His purpose in a more distinct way. He respects our free will, but He will often lead us with something that we desire, just like He did with Samson. Like us, you may one day look back and find that what you once considered a hobby, has become a ministry.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for guiding my steps. Please lead me into all that You have for me and help me see past the parts that I don't understand. Fulfill Your will in my life and put me where You want me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! Yesterday afternoon, we did an upgrade to our servers and updated the core software for the RHM website. We are grateful to Him that it went successfully! Over the next few days, we will be doing the inevitable tweaks that are part of the process. If any of you have a moment, please feel free to "click around" the site, try posting, sharing, liking, etc., and let us know if you have any issues! We have tested, but things may look different on other computer and phone types. Thank you for your help, and here is a link to the homepage to start: RHM Homepage

Amen! Although I desired to write in my younger days I never expected my writing to become my ministry. I am so blessed to have found what I thought was just a youthful desire to be God's plan for me to reach out and share Abba Father and Jesus with others.

Yea, the mail system broke during the upgrade, which I am working on now. So the email went out late. It should be back together tomorrow. Hopefully... Also this devotional should show up at the top of the list if you click "devotional" on the menu. If not, let me know because something is still wrong.  :)

Hey Perry, yup I see there is something a little off about it. It looks like anyone can see today's post if linked directly to it, but only certain member levels (like Admins) can see that one post on the devotional list. Thank you for letting us know, looking into it :)!

Ok, Perry, I believe you should be able to see it now - if not, please let me know :). I had to toggle a setting on and off in the edit screen, and that seemed to fix it. I'm sure Dion will find something better when he gets to that part :D

It looks so different.  I receive it in my Iphone and my Window 7 Computer but it look so different.  Lots are missing.  I used to see all the 2 or 3 messages you are sending me up there in top most of the screen where you could read them all and click the part of all messages read..  Now they are gone.  And the font seems to be smaller.  I do not know, but with me as a senior sometimes change is difficult especially with technology.  I prefer the previous one which is so simple and could see it all.  Sorry for complaining, but this is just me.  Thank you Pastor for looking into my concerns.

It is OK Deng. Thanks for your feedback. The same list of recent devotionals are on the right hand side of the computer screen to me, but they do not show up on the phone because there is no sidebar. And yes, I understand as I get older I want the font larger and larger... but eventually it just looks horrible for everyone else. This is a compromise with a 14pt font. Be blessed   :)

Hi Deng, thank you for your feedback! The page that has the list of devotionals is still the same. Here is the link to that: https://www.refreshinghope.org/blogs/1/. Dion explained the reason for the font, but try this: when you go to the blog page, right under the title at the top is a link that says "Printable Version". If you click that on your Windows 7 computer, I think it will look much bigger - it does for me here. On your phone, that should allow you to zoom in by "pinching", or if you use Safari, you should be able to zoom in and out right on the normal blog page. Just some things to try - let us know if they work for you :)!

Thank you for answering Pastor and Sylvia. Top most of the screen says: Home, Devotional, Pastor's Corner, News, Prayer, Bible Study, Watch, About, Member which can be scrolled down.  But I can not see if you have send me a message or like.  I guess that is the only one that is not up there.  The Message part where you send me all the messages intended for the day.  I still can see my Bible Study when I click my Watch.  If you could look into this matter about the "Message" missing.

Oh ok, so you mean your Inbox, where you have private messages? On your phone, it should be at the top, labeled as "Inbox". On your Windows computer, take at look at the very top right of the screen, and you should see an icon that looks like an envelope. If you have messages, it will have a red number with it. I will send you a test message right after this so you can see :)

So far so good Sylvia.  If ever I encounter problems, is it okay to ask you about it.  Change is good but not when you do no understnad a lot about technology.  Thank you for the help.
