For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn't hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth....

For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees? But if we hope for that which we don't see, we wait for it with patience. Romans 8:24 WEB'Oh I don't want to face tomorrow. I have a bad, bad, feeling about this.' On and on we go into a spiral of sel...

Baby Jesus from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about “Who is Jesus?” I feel that we take it for granted that people actually know that much about Him. In the world we see Jesus as a baby in a manger, then crucified on a cross. The life of Jesus seems to span...

A Light in The Darkness

  • Arise, shine; for your light has come, and Yahweh's glory has risen on you. For, behold, darkness will cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but Yahweh will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Isaiah 60:1 WEB

Nightfall came faster than I was anticipating and it was black night as I made my way through the swamp. I spent a lot of my time in the woods growing up. Normally, the moon would be out, but this night was overcast and the thick trees above snuffed out everything, and I had no light with me.

I was about thirteen years old at the time, and the eerie sound of frogs, crickets and whatever that was lurking behind me were terrifying. Finally I made it out of the woods and I could see the light of home in the distance. It was the most welcoming sight, and I was so happy to see it.

A small candle sitting in the sunlight at mid-day is hardly noticeable. If you back away even a few feet it will begin to blend in with the surroundings and the light of the sun. It would seem insignificant, like there was nothing to be seen there. But if you were to look at that same candle in black darkness, it would shine like it was sent by God.

As this world grows darker and darker, your light will shine brighter and brighter to those around you. For some people, YOU are the only light that they will ever see and God will use you to draw them. You may think that your light is only a small flicker, but to someone in total darkness, you may be the most welcoming sight they have ever seen and carry the word of God that sets people free from the darkness. Keep that fire stoked, it is going to be needed.

Prayer: Heavenly Father let me carry Your fire, fill me with Your Holy Spirit and let me be a light house to those in the darkness. Put Your words in my heart and bring all things to my remembrance. Speak to me and through me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Yes, Lord keep Your Heavenly Light stoked in me, Your Word remember when needed to bring hope, love and truth to them.  Quick to listen and slow to speak what You know to be best for those listening.  You are the only Light for others to see in their darkness.  Amen

Dear Pastor Dion, thank you for this prayer! May this be my heart's desire and prayer as well, and may this be my New-Years-resolution, too, to be filled by Thy Holy Spirit, may I be a light, even like a little candle that shines in this growing darkness out there in this world, surrounding me, and also at home with my loved ones! May others see You o Lord when they see me and may I be a true witness guided by Thy mighty Spirit! I ask and pray all of this in the holy name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!!!

I need some helpful feedback from anyone. I have an 81 year old neighbor, who lost her husband last March. I must share that they both were what some would call Old mean and selfish people. Sylvias son came to stay with her for a few weeks when Glenn passed, until she finally run them off with her hatefulness. He lives in 3hrs away and is the only child of 3 who has anything to do with her. She has no one,so I have been helping her since then. Taking her where she needs to go, feeding her everyday,  etc. It is really taking a toll of me since I'm disabled myself and live month to month. For many months she has shown signs of Alzheimer disease or dementia. Can't remember anything for even 5-10 minutes. Asking me over and over things. Within 30 minutes she asked me what I did to my hand. I had surgery Dec 1st and have a cast on. For about the last 3 months, she has become much worse, sleeping for days at a time, wearing the same clothes for weeks...literally. Not taking showers. She forgets to eat and if I don't sit with her, the food is wasted. She is small and is withering away. This woman is very well off. The reason I know is that I took her to Food Lion once, and she had to have her cigarettes, so I asked cashier where she could while I picked up a few items for myself. I was only about 5 minutes and when I walked out to the bench where she was sitting, she had her checkbook out and was talking to a stranger, who seemed very interested. She was telling them she couldn't figure out where 2000.00 went to. As I approached her,the person immediately left. I saw that her balance of 79,595.00. Yes, thousands. I tried telling her she shouldn't be sharing with strangers. I cannot leave her alone in a store long enough to go one aisle over, because she takes off and I have to look for her. I have tried taking her places,,even church, but sometimes she acts like a child and when I talk with her she gets upset and calls me Mommy, very sarcastically.  I'm at my wits end, because I try so hard to Love thy neighbor per the commandments. She still drives sometimes and doesn't need to do so, because at our mailbox at the end of the street, I had walked to get my mail. She proceeds to back her truck up and I had to push a kid on a bike away to keep him from being hit. I texted her son with no response, like several times when trying to reach him. The final straw was Friday before Christmas last week. I told him about my concern and asked if he could come see her so he could see himself.  Still no response. However, they came Christmas Eve and left the next day. Sure enough, they woke hed up around 5 in afternoon and it was so obvious by her appearance that he had to see. I had stopped to get her 6 pack of Ensure, mtn dew and a sandwich, so I took it to her, fixed it up and she was happy. In the meantime, I asked if he got my text and he shook his head, yes. Both he and his wife ignored me and walked outside until I left. No Thank you, not a word. When they left I went over to check on her. I couldn't drive for a few weeks and hadn't been able to take her grocery shopping. I saw that they had not even taken her to get groceries. When I had texted to ask him to visit, I said that if he couldn't come, would he please call someone in social services aging department because she doesn't need to be left alone. There's so much more. Then, I read today's message A light in the darkness and immediately started feeling guilty of my feelings. I'm lost and don't know what to do. I have prayed for an answer. She is starting to consume me and I'm starting to have bitter feelings causing even more stressed. Sorry this is so long, but I need help. Please share with me what I should do, because the situation is really trying to take my joy away.  Public or private message me. Thanks for taking time to read.

Love in Christ

Rebecca, I believe a person in that situation could have a person there to help her out, provided for by the state. I have heard it called a "Personal Care Assistant", but it may be called other things in different states. I do agree you should help as you can, since the Lord has placed her in your situation and on your heart, but you don't need to let it take over your life, especially when you are dealing with so many health issues there. For instance, even in the parable of the Good Samaritan, he took care of the person on the road and helped him get somewhere sheltered and safe, but he didn't stay there the whole time while he was recovering. Praying for you, for your neighbor, and the family, to see what is right in His eyes <3! Love you, sister! (((HUGS)))

Amen brother!

Jesus called us “the light of the world.”   And He wants us to be luminous of His love and live our lives in such a way that it shines in darkness acting as a beacon in a light house guiding people who are lost and who are being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine to the shores of salvation where we can share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ and the love of the Father.

Truly, we are "the light of the world" and the only voice He has on earth.  May we not be silent and may we shine brightly!  Living for Him who died for us!
