Good Neighbors from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the importance of being a good neighbor. Ever since Adam and Eve had kids and one killed the other, it has been an ongoing thing, learning to live with one another. Most of the ten commandments are about how we tr...

When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Selah. I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn't hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave t...

The man said, 'They have left here, for I heard them say, 'Let's go to Dothan.' ' Joseph went after his brothers, and found them in Dothan. They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them, they conspired against him to kill him. They said to one another, 'Behold, this dreamer comes. Come now ...

Baby Steps

  • Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path Psalms 44:18 WEB

If you begin to dig too deep into the 'shall' and 'shall nots' of the Bible and then compare it to your life, to examine all of your flaws and shortcomings, it will soon overwhelm you and you will spiral into an attitude of defeat. 'I can't do this, why bother?'

There is often a seemingly unlimited list of things that need to be made right before you stand 'Right with God', before you are ready to pray for someone, or to speak something in faith, before it is you encouraging someone else. After dwelling on the 'list' for a while, people often just give it up as a lost cause.

There is a better solution to this problem: just keep putting one foot in front of the other one and do not focus inward on yourself, instead focus on Jesus. Live your life one day at a time, and involve the Lord in your plans while doing the best that you can, today. You will soon find yourself fulfilling His will in your life, and bringing His Kingdom into your environment.

Yes, we have a lot of problems, but it's all that we have got going so lets make the best of it. Even if you take baby steps, you will still be moving forward each day. The Lord is always more concerned about who you are becoming as a person, than about what you do for Him.

I have heard it said that if you do not change your direction, then you will end up where you are headed. Relax. You will do this and you will be successful, if you keep a positive attitude and keep pressing forward. Do not get overwhelmed, and do not turn back. God loves you, and He is proud of the progress that you have made. Let go of the do's and don'ts and just say 'Lord, just as I am, I give myself to You. Please help me.'

Prayer: Heavenly Father please forgive me for sometimes taking my eyes off of You and getting overwhelmed with rules that I don't really understand that well. Make Your love simple to me and reveal it to me in an unmistakable way, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Happy Monday! The highlighted group of the week is Overcomers: Addiction Support Group, a private group (all are welcome, but only group members can see the posts) whose mission is to not only for drug support, but for ALL addictions (ie; sex, gambling, food, compulsive shopping, tobacco etc.) Our goal here is to help others who may desire to get help, by God''s word and with other resources that may be available to you, with identifying and stopping these behaviours. ALSO, the Creation Photographers fun theme, "Family Moments", based on Proverbs 22:6! As always, you are free to post anything else that inspires you, too! I really needed this today, Pastor Dion!  I have been getting so overwhelmed lately!  I have this strong desire to get closer to God & yet the more I think of HOW, everything gets all jumbled up & then I don't do anything!!  All I want is to have the best relationship with Him that I possibly can!  I want to hear when He speaks to me, see when He shows me something, etc....sometimes I feel lost in my journey.

We are no different from the nation of Israel, in Exodus 23:29 God said He would not drive out all of their enemies in a single year. Salvation is the first step in this process we call kingdom living. God is so willing to help us change, He is also smart enough to know how thick we are. He is not in a hurry, are you? Life comes one day at a time, thank you Father!

Heavenly Father please forgive me for sometimes taking my eyes off of You and getting overwhelmed with rules that I don't really understand that well. Make Your love simple to me and reveal it to me in an unmistakable way, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen <3

I always say walk stright ahead don't look up or down look stright ahead and put one foot in front of the other. This was taught to me by a nurse that use to come to my home to help. She's a good friend of mine and would still come it's just her husband has a hard time walking. If I need her all I would have to do is call and Art, would bring her to my home. I have a lot of things that she told me and she's a believer loves God, with all her heart that's why I trust her. Met her in my early twenties when I was in the hospital for kidney stones. She was going home after second shift and I was in my room in pain and crying. She came in and started to talk to me she told her husband Art, to go home she was staying with me. She didn't drive her husband did plus he worked too. Well that's how we met and she never left me she always a call away and has a heart like an angel. She's the one who taugh me baby steps and a lot more she also helped many vets who came back from war and they loves her too. She's a little lady with a really nig heart. <3

Thank You Partor Dion for your devotion. When I saw baby steps Bobbi, was first to come to my mind good memories. :-)
