The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn't dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. Acts 17:24 WEBWhen I was growing up, we us...

RHM Devotional: Heroes and Monsters from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the potential of being a Hero, or a Monster, that exists inside each one of us. We get to choose. Once when Jesus was preaching from a boat, He told a parable about a man that sowed wheat in H...

He said to them, 'Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.' Mark 16:15 WEBJesus spoke these words to the eleven Apostles before He ascended to heaven. There is so much that could be said about this, but today we cover 'The Gospel.' The word Gospel means 'glad tidings, good...

Zero to Hero

  • He said to him, 'O Lord,* how shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.' Yahweh said to him, 'Surely I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.' Judges 6:15 WEB

Gideon was the least in his family, who was the poorest clan in the tribe of Manasseh. God chose him to lead a group of three hundred men and defeat a vast Midianite army, whose camels could not even be counted.

Gideon was scared and hopelessly outnumbered. Outside of God, he had nothing going for him. No one else thought so either. Even his hometown wanted to kill him for destroying baal's altar. Gideon was the least of the least. Yet with only God on his side, it was more than enough.

When the battle started, the enemies became confused and started killing each other, then ran away. They were completely defeated. After the battle, there were forty years of peace. Gideon, with the help of God, made it happen. God likes to show His power strong in the weak and humble.

Moses was the most humble man on the earth during his life (Numbers 12:3), David was the least of his family (1 Samuel 16:11). Even Jesus of Nazareth was born in a stable (Luke 2:7). Yet they were world changers.

As a child, I was the youngest of thirteen children and not even one of them, for I was a step child from a previous marriage. On top of that my mom told me that I was not exactly 'his' either. Nevertheless, God has shown me that it is not who you are born as, but who you live for that matters. And it is not what we do for Him, but what He has done for us that makes us righteous.

God can fix everything, and if all that you have is Him, He is more than enough. He has taken me from sweeping the floor to being the manager in a few months. There have been times when I was out of work and flat broke, I would open my Bible and find that someone had secretly put money in it. I have seen the sick and hurting be instantly healed. I have watched Him take life crushing situations and turn it completely around for our good. Things that would make you pinch yourself to be sure that you are awake.

Today you may be the least of the family and feel the weakest, but God can make a hero, out of a zero. If you follow His leading, no thing or no one can hold you back for He is more than enough. So we can confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?' (Hebrews 13:5).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, my life is Yours. Please lead me into all that You have for me. Provide for me in the desert and lead me out the other side. I choose to put my trust in You. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

In Old Testament times the Mediterranean Sea was called the Great Sea. ...

Are we *positive* the sea they say is the sea referenced? The med used to allegedly be called the middle earth sea.... was it the middle of הארץ?.... or another sea?...

I think realizing what we dont know that we think or thought we knew is revelationary
