Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its se...

When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8...

The Lost Sheep

  • He told them this parable. 'Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?' Luke 15:3 WEB

When I first got serious about serving the Lord Jesus, I was a professional musician and played music somewhere almost every night. I played everywhere, in festivals, weddings, rodeos, bars, and in the praise team at church.

I had enrolled in Bible College, and playing music helped me pay for it. The southern religious side of me was ashamed to be seen in a bar, so I prayed about leaving music but always felt: 'No' or 'Not yet.' I even went to my pastor and had him pray over it, and he told me: 'Not yet.' So I reluctantly stayed where I was.

One night while performing in a bar at around 2 A.M, I suddenly felt the Holy Spirit's presence descend on me heavily like a warm blanket. I actually asked the Holy Spirit: 'What are You doing here?' because I was very surprised that He showed up in the bar.

Scriptures started coming to my mind, and the guitar player across the stage caught my attention. I knew they were for him, but I had learned a lesson about pursuing people with scriptures they didn't want to hear it. It would merely push them away. So I told the Lord: 'Break time is coming up and I am going out to sit in my car. If you want me to witness to him, then send him out to me.'

When the band went on break, everyone headed to the bar for a drink, and I headed out to my car. I opened my Bible to the scripture that had come to me and sat there reading it. There was a tap on the window, it was the guitar player, and he started asking me questions about the Bible. I was already on the right page, and I began sharing the scripture with him.

This person came under such conviction that they started trembling all over. When I met them Wednesday at practice, they were still shaking and in tears. We knelt down together and I led them to Jesus. My friend wouldn't come to church, so God went after him where he was. Then soon after that, the Lord released me from the band.

I learned that sometimes we can be too religious to do God's work. God had snuck me into the band to reach those inside of it, while I thought that it may have been against His will for me to even be there. Quite a few times in my life, God has placed me in the center of a group of lost ones, and then changed the environment around me.

God will use you wherever you are standing if there is a lost sheep near by. Where is God today? He is Looking for the lost sheep. What is important to God today? Finding the lost sheep. You may be where you are because He chose you to reach someone there. After all, it is not all about us is it? If you are a lost sheep, know that He is looking for you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father please help me to see those that need You, like You do. Fill me with Your wisdom, speak to me and through me. Help me be in the right place at the right time. Help me bring in the lost, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

I always love to read this devotional. This testimony of the Holy Spirit showing up at a bar shows his great power especially in a world today that is filled with man's rules and doctrines. We forget God doesn't follow our rules he has his own set of rules and when His Word says all things are possible with God it's TRUTH! Thanks for reminding me when I am led to a place I may not want to go my obedience may bring a glimmer of God to someone in need. Have a blessed day!

One of my favorite testimonies is how years ago, I had admitted myself into the mental health unit at the hospital for depression. I have struggled with depression for many years; that particular time, was pretty bad &  I needed a break as it was interferring with every area of my life. While there, I spent time with 2 women talking about life, why we were there, etc. One Sunday, after I'd been there for a few days, the 2 ladies & I were chatting, and they told me they had went to the service in the chapel that morning. They both started asking me questions about the Lord. What did being born again mean? Questions like that stand out in my mind, and I told them what I knew to the best of my ability, I could feel the Holy Spirit giving me the words to answer every question they asked. I felt so happy & excited to share with them. Two or three days later, one of them had been released & I hadn't seen the other out in the common area. I asked a nurse if she had went home, she said  no, that she was in her room not feeling well. I asked if I could go in to see her & she said that was fine. I was shocked when I entered her room at how ill she was. I think she was in a coma, as she didn't open her eyes or speak to me. I took her hand & asked her if she could hear me & she squeezed my hand. I asked her if she had prayed the prayer I had told her, to ask forgiveness, to ask Jesus to come into her life...I have heard it called "the sinners prayer". I told her to squeeze my hand if she had. And praise God! She lightly squeezed my hand!!! Later that day, she was taken to the ICU, and died the next day.

I know this is a long post, but, after that, a day or so later, I felt well enough to go home. The last place I had wanted to be was in the mental health unit, and it felt like the Lord had sent me there so that I could lead her to Him before she passed. In fact, I KNOW that is why. I felt then & still do, so blessed that He chose me!!
