In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led Israel out and in. Yahweh said to you, You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel. So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahwe...

Inspiration from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about inspiration, when a creative idea suddenly downloads into your brain. That is not an accident. It happens for a purpose, and it may be more important than we think. Let’s begin in Jeremiah chapter 1 verse 4: T...

Yahweh's angel found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain on the way to Shur. He said, 'Hagar, Sarai's servant, where did you come from? Where are you going?' She said, 'I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.' Genesis 16:7 WEBHagar wandered alone in the desert. She...

Feel Like a Number

  • Simon, to whom he gave the name Peter; James the son of Zebedee; John, the brother of James, and he surnamed them Boanerges, which means, Sons of Thunder; Andrew; Philip; Bartholomew; Matthew; Thomas; James, the son of Alphaeus; Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. Mark 3:16 WEB

Jesus and the disciples had to have been tired, for they had been traveling all day when they finally came to a town. But the people of that city would not welcome their group, and they had to travel on to the next town. James and his brother John, wanted to call down fire from heaven and burn the city to the ground for rejecting them, but Jesus calmed them down (Luke 9:54).

Jesus had seen more in the disciples than simple fisherman on the day that He called them. He named James and John 'Boanerges' which means: 'Sons of Thunder' for He knew that they were a hot tempered pair. Simon He nicknamed 'Peter' meaning 'The Rock.' Peter had great faith and as far as I know, he was the only disciple to walk on water (Matthew 14:29). Jesus 'knew' them well.

When I first started attending church, I felt that I was on the outside. I thought God knew the pastor and elders well, but I doubted that He knew, or cared that much about me. Yes, they talked about God's love, but I had not seen it in my upbringing. My mom divorced nine times, and I mostly saw a lot of hate and bitterness.

As I began to really seek God with fasting, praying, and listening to the Word, He began to show up in my workplace and invade my everyday life. Sometimes, I could speak a few words and people would begin to weep or shake under conviction. Soon I was coming to church and telling them what God had done for me during the week, and who I had led to the Lord. When I came to church, I would often bring a whole row of people with me.

The real turning point in my relationship with God was when I realized that I was not just another number. He actually knew and loved me personally, not just globally. It was not that I was special, it was that I welcomed Him, I wanted Him, I spent time with Him and I was willing to look like a fool for His sake.

We are each unique in our own way. God made each of us as individuals, and there is no one on earth just like us. He also understands why we are the way that we are.

Know today that you are not a number. There is not another person on earth like you. You are special, and God formed you with all of the traits and the characteristics that you have. You are not an accident, and you are not just a number. You have a name, and God Almighty knows it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for today. Help me to know You in a special way. Let me know that You truly care in more than words. Fill my environment with Your presence and change my surroundings, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

I can tell you Dion, when I started going to church where we went before, I thought the Paster had some special gift because at times he seemed to hear so clearly. When I started to hear God just as clearly, I then thought I was speacial some how. Then the voice just stopped. Anyone who tells me they have God figured out, I only take with a grain of salt. I can tell every one that God is really there, I can tell everyone that God loves us even when we are the most messed up. What I can not tell everyone is what He is going to do next, because every time I think I know, I am wrong! I have learned to just let God be God!

Jim, sometimes I would say God, is the God, of left field because we never know what he's going to do next. Many times you'll think one thing and he shows you another. I say he's the God, of left field because not one of us knows what is going to come next. That's why we just have to keep our faith very strong and just let God be God. Roll with what ever he shows us and pray you know for sure that it's from God. Amen :-)

Amen! Dear Pastor Dion, my heart breaks when I hear stories like yours of so many people nower days that have a parent that should be loving and nurturing instead of ... There are so many scars and wounds that only the Lord can heal!!! I just want to give you a big hug! But just think of the amazing love the Lord has for you and all of us! He loved and knew us even before we were conceived ..., and already had a plan for us!!! All we have to do is to invite and accept Him, love and serve Him!!!

Pastor Dion, when you talk about "We are each unique in our own way. God, made each of us as individuals, and there is no one on earth just like us." I always think about that many times in my life. I would always think about snow flakes there are no two a like each and everyone is different. When you look at snow flakes each one is beautiful nut different. When it's dark out and a little light shines on them they sparkle and shine. In God's eyes I always see us as equal but different we all shine we're all beautiful and different in God's eyes. God/Father loves his children. Amen. <3

Thank you Pastor, for your devotion this one really touched my heart. <3
