Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

Happy Endings

  • The LORD blessed the latter part of Jobs life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. And he also had seven sons and three daughters Job 42:1213 NIV

Job was a very wealthy man who went through a terrible trial, but when it was over, all that he had lost was returned double. In chapter one of the book of Job, he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys. In chapter forty, he had exactly twice this. Though his first group of children were now with the Lord, he was blessed with seven more sons, and three more beautiful daughters, which doubled the number of his children as well.

You cannot judge a book by reading a single page in the middle of it. During one year of my life, my business burned to the ground during an insurance lapse, my Dad passed away, I went through a divorce, and I had to start my life over with nothing. Now the Lord has restored what I lost, with better. I thank God for getting me through the dark times.

No matter what you are going through, God still has the same good plan for you that He had the moment that you were born. When you are restored, it will be better than before. The later part of your life can be better than the beginning. God has seen every tear and He knows the pain that you have been through. Be encouraged because this storm will pass and the Son will shine once again on your life.

Brian Sharpe
Brian Sharpe this is so true!!!! I was going throught a lot of heartaches when my third wife went to work and never came home. she had been talking to someone online. when I questioned her about a number on the phone bill ( only because it was everyday same time before she got home from work) she said I ain't comming back. just like that it was over for me after almost eight years . point being I found Jesus again at that point . prayed all the time , started changing my life and living for him instead of me . well all I can say is God hears you !!!! after several months of crying and beating myself up over things . God brought  someone in my life . at that time I did not want it !! ooooh no I was done . but as it turns out I trusted God and went with it . three years later I have a beautiful woman with a heart of gold who loves God a business of my own . I have all my step children back in my life  from the third marriage. all thier children . God does reward you if you believe and have faith . stay faithful no matter what storm you are going through !! you will be rewarded

Shawntel Guillory
Shawntel Guillory This was a much needed word for me right now. I'm in the darkest place struggling. I've been so hard on myself for mistakes & poor choices I've made that helped put me in such a place. I'm far from who Job was, far from deserving of God's grace & mercy making it all the more difficult to be encouraged. I pray for restoration, a happy ending, a season of long-overdue peace. Thanks for reminding me God is able.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Oh boy. can I relate! I suffered from an addiction of one form or another for 40 years--while I cannot say my life is BETTER, in many ways, I am more blessed than I was previously. And I do believe that God has great things prepared for me. So, I'll keep plugging along, writing, dreaming--but most of all, praying! Thank you, Pastor Todd, for reminding me about poor Job's plight.Either the Bible is factual or it isn't; there is no middle ground. And so, I believe God will do the same for me.

Lori Burke
Lori Burke This has really blessed me today. We are nearing 60 and since selling our house, now live in an RV on my daughter's land. I am on disability after working over 40 years and my husband just lost his job. That means our insurance will be gone too (I am dealing with the aftermath of West Nile Virus). My sister has left my life and my other siblings have nothing to do with me. My husband has lost his brother, mother and brother-in-law all in the last year.  BUT, God has a plan for our lives. We came to visit my daughter and her family last year and have stayed. What a blessing! More things are to come I am sure. God's strength and mercy have always seen us through and will continue to do so.  Thank you so much for this reminder. Blessings

Karen Pasquinelli I needed this now I feel so much better.  I had to divorce my first husband even though I loved him.  He had a alcohol problem and I couldn't watch him kill himself anymore and I was tired of arguing all the time because of it. He remarried before me and passed away on his 60th birthday :(.  I remarried before he passed to a man who doesn't have an alcohol problem and who treats me awesome.  We never argue and I feel at peace.  This is a short version of the story :).

Janice Phillips
Janice Phillips In 10 years I lost my parents my grandmother and my husband. Found out my daughter has MS and now my little sister has brain cancer. I'm coming up on the 1 yr anniversary of my husband's passing. During that time I spent 4 yrs of it taking care of my husband with a head injury and then 2 1/2 yrs with the cancer. It's still not over but God has been with me and I have never lost my faith in Him or stopped praying. I now have a very good job, attend college and have been blessed with a wonderful man in my life. I believe that every step I have taken for all these years have led me to where I am supposed to be. God's plan. I'm finding his joy in my heart everyday. I do love God and Jesus and give thanks for the blessings He is giving me so late in my life. Never give up, ever. It's called FAITH! :)

Sylvia Schmidt
Sylvia Schmidt I had my interview for being a counsellor a few days ago and it was really disappointing. I thought God was calling me to this but the interviewer did not even have my resume when she told me that no school principal wants a counsellor who does not have experience as a teacher. When I told her I had experience, she only looked at the fact that I am only an educsfonal assistant. I have tried to get teaching jobs for 21 years and have had only 2 short terms as a teacher. I know how to teach but I felt I had to prove my skills to her without her even having my resume. I feel like I misunderstood God's calling. I am so unsure of what God wants me to do. I need to listen for his still small voice to stop all the many judgemental voices out there. I need to rethink everything and figure out what to do next. Whether to keep training or just try to find happiness in a job I don't like. So much to think about.

Lori Burke
Lori Burke Never let what is going on in the physical relm make you question what you know God has called you to. Keep plugging away. God will open the door if it is truly what He has for you. He could just be allowing your determination to follow Him to be tested. Stay in prayer and continue to read God's word. He will open the right door and will let you know when He does it.

Janice Phillips My heart is heavy for you Richard. I know too well that feeling of sadness. Sometimes it just comes out of no where. Roger's shoes are still sitting under his chair at the counter. I bent over to pick up something and there they were. Your word weighted describes it well. It doesn't happen too often anymore. Dion seems to have a knack for writing the right things on the right days. These storms will end one day, there is hope with the Lord. I thank Him everyday for lightening up my heart day by day. He is my strength! :) By the way, I was able to put his shoes away with only a single tear. You're in my prayers...God bless!

Sylvia Schmidt I really hope you are right Pastor Dion. He did provide a newer safe car for me to drive recently with the help of my ex-husband on the phone. Imagine an ex-husband helping you. how weird was that? He was the 6th man I asked for help. I have to remember that God provided for this car for me and my kids. I will be starting a 2nd job to work on weekends when I don't have my kids so I can provide for my kids and pay for this car in this way. I just need a break to stop and think on what God wants me to do next. Thank you Pastor.

Sylvia Schmidt The story of Naomi is also about blessing after so many losses. Naomi has always been an inspiration to me as a strong woman who has faced losses. Her husband and sons died. She had no grandchildren. She went with Ruth (her daughter-in-law) to where she grew up and Ruth eventually married Naomi's cousin and they had a child. Now finally Naomi had a grandchild to hold through Ruth.

Cheryl Hepler Wow Pastor that was quite a year!  Had some years like that.  God is good!  The dog I put a photo on named Pumpkin.  We are taking her on a trip to a neurologist.  Her right shoulder a few weeks ago isn't better even though seen by a vet.  It is swollen out & her neck is on a bend to left.  Such a good & friendly dog she has been & tomorrow she will again be overly friendly even though she looks awful.  Was hoping it was a muscle pull.  Appreciate prayers...for her for us.  Thank you
