Brothers, I don't regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do: forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. For you don't delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A Great Work

  • Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, Come, let us meet together in one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief. I sent messengers to them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I can't come down: why should the work cease, while I leave it, and come down to you? Nehemiah 6:2 WEB

Nehemiah was organizing the rebuilding of the wall around Jerusalem after it had been destroyed and the people carried away into exile. When he began, his enemies laughed at him, but then as he started to close the gaps in the wall, they became much more serious and plotted to kill him in order to stop the work from being completed.

Nehemiah's enemies planned to invite him to a banquet and assassinate him so that all the people following him would stop the work that he had started. When they tried to lure Nehemiah into their trap, he simply replied "I am doing a great work, and I cannot come down." Then he continued on and completed his wall while working with a trowel in one hand, and a sword in the other (Nehemiah 4:17).

Our enemy may start out using laughs, jeers, and gossip to attack us, but if we keep on with God's work, he will devise much sneakier traps and distractions for us that scale to our level. He has done this a long time, and he knows what works. Like someone inspecting a wall, he keeps searching for the small cracks to get in through, and once in, it is hard to get him back out.

The enemy's plan is to get you distracted, trip you, make you fall, to make your testimony worthless. To make the salt lose its flavor. To stop the work. To stop God from fulfilling His plan in your life. To steal, to kill, and destroy (John 10:10). When tempted, remember that you are doing a great work, and that you cannot come down.

Prayer: Heavenly Father please give me a clear vision and reveal the traps that the enemy has set for me. Help me to focus on the work at hand and not be distracted. Fulfill Your will in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

"And *Yosef called on Yahuah of Israel, saying, Oh that Thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that Thine hand might be with me, and that Thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And Yahuah granted *Yosef that which he requested." Amen

Amen! So true, there is a saying, no good deed goes unpunished. When working for the Lord, many attempts will come from the enemy to destroy our work, to derail us, to confuse us, to give us fatigue, perhaps make us ill, but if we recognize these attempts and rebuke the enemy we can prevail. Prayer is our defense, as we approach our Abba Father, He sends in His ministering angels to lift us up, to strengthen our resolve and to ready us to win our battles. We only need to call to Him and He sends us everything we need to accomplish our work. He is truly my Rock, my Refuge and my Deliverer!

Oh, how true this is. The devil has snuck into that crack in my life; especially in the last few days. I have allowed to let my self esteem  almost hit "Rock Bottom ". I finally made a decision to take my 35 year old son to the LORD and lay him down at the Altar for GOD TO TAKE OVER because I just can't do it any longer. He knows the situation. This is new for me and I have to keep reminding myself not to get in God's way of The Great Work. Thank you so much Pastor Dion for this message today.

Wow Rebecca that is very difficult to do!  It takes a lot of getting ready with God helping you to arry yr son to His feet and leave him there with yr heart also. Many yrs ago attending a Christian speaker's teaching series I heard him say one day near end of week ( while he was doing a chalk drawing never saw before ( Abraham taking his son Isaiah to lay on the alter) this minister said, Who do you have to ay here on the alter?  I started to cry with great emotion knowing it was my daughter.  My heart had been tearing apart along time.  I felt God talking directly to me... I said yes,Lord I do lay her on your lap, feet and or heart.  I am wery and can't continue anymore. Sobbed thru it all.  Later in some time I laid my son also.  Then years later all 3 of my step children.  It was the best place and the place to put them all!  I was heart weary incl physically ,emotionally and spiritually.  Worn in doing and in prayer.  A great relief came over me!  It is God's work and He loves them way more then me.  Later a verse came from Her. 31:15..ending with...He will return them from the land of the enemy.  Gratefulness came rushing in.  Today so many years later they still are with them and continue remembering what happened and who has them.  Freed me to serve Him in many different ways and now just keep walking with Him.  Blessings to you!!

Cheryl, Thank you so much for these encouraging words. It can be heart wrenching.  God has put a new friend in my life, and she has helped me to understand why we have to do that because of her own children. I have not been getting what I am searching for in church I go to, so she invited me to go where she goes. I had a very stressful day and wasn't going to go. It was 5:00 yesterday and when I called my dearest friend who had to move a year ago and told her how tired I was she said that I should reconsider because I may get blessed. I called Mary, my new friend and we met at a gas station so I could follow her. IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I HAVE MADE IN A LONG TIME!!! It just so happens they were having Round Table studying and discussions where they split up in groups. We sat at the table with the Pastor. Jeremiah 29:11 has always been my favorite verse and it was the main topic. I knew right then that God had it all planned out for me. I cannot express in words how overwhelming this study was, but I  know without a doubt that this is where God wants me now. I have found what I have been searching for..The church and place where I belong. So amazing how God works in my life. I am ready for what comes next. Praises to our Heavenly Father. May you have a Blessed day.

If we keep on with God's work! I've been waiting 52 years for God to tell me what that work is. The problem that I have is that I always hear, "do God's work", fulfill God's purpose for your life, do God's will and blah blah blah. That's great and I would gladly do it if he would let me in on just what that is. It's like your boss telling you to finish a project without telling you what it is. I'm sure that it's all my fault somehow though!

I just wanted to share a little of God working in my life. I have had many seasons in my life that God has sent me in many different  directions, Some of those times I didn't know for sure what He was doing, but I look back now and see how He was just using my every day life by bringing just the right people across my path, and using my gifts which He has given me. Some times I didn't even know I had the gifts He had given me. I know that God continues to do his work with or with out me, but I would much rather do it with Him the blessings are so worth it. His word is so important to me, I have learned to trust in it, and know that He speeks to me through the Holy Spirit. I know that His timing is always right and that He never waist anything. I know He created me for a purpose and will keep showing me in whatever way He choses. I have had health problems and couldn't serve the way I use to, but He has showed me that I can councel others on the phone and internet, and has done things with my life I thought was impossiable.

Thank you for sharing, You might not see God working in your life but I can tell you He is. It is Gods work not our work that counts, He just uses us in so many ways. When you get to heaven you will be supprised how God has used you. Just a caring sister in Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I ask for Your strength and guidance in getting through these financial troubles that lie before us.  We do our best to take care of our family every day Lord, and know You will not let us fall.  We know that You Lord are for us, so who can be against us!  Shine Your light upon us Lord, and Bless our family today and every day! These things we ask in Your Name, O Lord!   Amen!

Amen to the list Dion of all the ways the enemy tries to stop us from walking with the Lord...he is a busy little pest.  I did in yrs past serrve in various ministers.  Physical pain doesn't allow me now.  I keep in His Word and remember as much how much He loves me.  He reminds me in my devotions often.  I have a big recurrence of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue as I did years ago when this all began.  At times it is so paralyzing I can't believe myself.  This weather patter last 3 days is a big part of it recently.  My chiro I go to could see it today & when I left a man outside said are you alright?  Yes, it's Fibro.  I walk like a stiff walking dummy. Got home to take one of my meds and couldn't do a thing but take a nap.  I wake(even though I slept all nite) and still fatigued and pain to just type this.  Awe & shock how good I was for yrs.  Thank you Lord for those yrs.  The work I do for the Lord is keep believing and following Him.  My Savior and Lord!!  I am sure the devil doesn't like my reading the Word the Lord provided. I haven't gotten here as much as I use to due to what I described but this ministry is great and greatly needed!  Amen!  Blessings to you all!
