But Naaman was angry, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 2 Kings 5:11 WEBNaaman stared at his new skin with amazement when he came up out of the muddy water for the seventh time. His skin which had been covered in running sores, was now smooth as a baby and he was completely healed.
In his mind though, he had seen this going much differently. The man of God should have come out to him, waved his hands, and said a long prayer. Instead Elisha sent a messenger which told him to go wash in a muddy river. At first, Naaman went away angry, and remained sick. Then after thinking it over, he returned and did as Elisha's servant had instructed, and he was healed.
I have caught myself telling God, and expecting Him, to do it my way. Then watch Him do it better His way. He is not limited to our small way of thinking and our tiny resource pool. We often want God to be like us, to walk this way, and talk this way, but we have to remember that we serve Him, instead of Him serving us. The Almighty God is not our pet.
Twice I have asked Him to bless us financially so that we could buy some better equipment, then had someone call and trade us thousands of dollars worth of high end equipment in exchange for our help with a project. Things that were better than I would have bought, but came to need later. We often think too small.
Naaman gained some humility and was healed in the process. You can ask God to help you, but don't tell Him how to do it. He has multi-layered plans that in the end, are perfect. Ask Him and then just let Him handle it as He chooses. Trust Him, you will be happy with the results.

Amen! Waiting for on our Heavenly Father is ALWAYS best!!
Amen, trying to let God do it His own way! <3
I am so glad you said some seem to think of God as their pet. He is the creator of all that we see even if we do not understand. He even holds all of this together some how, I do wonder what He really thinks when He looks at the state of society. I am learning to pray and ask Him once, and to watch what he will do with that prayer. God is so amazing!
Do it Your way Lord, You know what's best! Amen. Great message Pastor, humility, surrender and patience.
Amen I have learned to include thy will be done in my requests, for I know unanswered prayers, can be a blessing sometimes.
Carol, I am going to try and remember to start saying "thy will be done. " Thanks for sharing this and it is good to say that I don't say that enough. "Thy will be done. " Amen <3
Please give me patience and wait on you Lord Jesus,Amen.
Patience is NOT one of my virtues! So yes, I do try to help God out all the time! This was a timely reminder that if I just wait for Him to work, it will turn out better than what I could've done! Thank you, Pastor Dion!!!
Amen.
Patience is also NOT something I do well. My sister is having family issues. She has spoken to me often about this and I really didn't have the answer. I was in bed and about to go to sleep, when I thought, "Why don't we pray together about this?" I called her the next day and we agreed to pray at a certain time, daily. Well, things happened at that time of day, so I told her to just ask God for help whenever she thought of them throughout the day. We both are doing that, as we both work and sometimes can't just walk away. So, this message hit the spot and we are waiting for God's solution. We both pray about the problem daily and I am now reminded we're on "God Time" and must be patient, waiting for Him to answer our prayers, His way. Not ours. Thank you, Pastor Dion.
Awesome!!
Heb. 12: 1-3 , Lord I want to run this race that is before me, by looking away from other objects, fixing my eyes on Jesus, the Author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has set down at the right hand of God, for consider Him who has endured susch hostility by sinners against Himself, so that I may not grow weary and lose heart.
This reminded me today that Jesus is my example. God truly does know what is best for me, I pray that I will let Him do things His way, and in His timing.
Amén Heavenly Father, let it be Your way, not mine.
For he is our king praise God
Amen Lord Jesus.

The main thing is trusting in the Lord. Why pray if we want things done our way and not the Lord's. Thank you for again opening my eyes. I pray the Lord speak to me in a way I understand in Jesus Holy name Amen. .
