Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its se...

Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. Don't quench the Spirit. Don't despise prophesies. Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. Abstain from every form of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:16'22 WEB.While travelin...

When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8...

Sin Less

  • If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we haven't sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:8 WEB

While helping an elder at our church repair the roof of his house, I learned a lot about him. When you work with someone day after day and you watch them smack their thumb with a hammer, or drop something on their foot, you get to know who they really are without their church face on.

He was in his seventies, and after walking with the Lord for forty years, he was very polished. He prayed over everything, never seemed to lose his temper, trusted God and controlled his emotions. He looked the other way when a short skirt walked past us at the diner.

We went to the hardware store for nails and a little boy who was with us put some extra ones in his pocket. When the elder found them later, we drove all the way back to town to return them. He was the real thing and when he prayed, God often answered him back. One night at church, He laid hands on the pastor's wife and she was instantly healed of cancer. The prayers of a righteous man can accomplish much (James 5:7).

From what he explained to me though, it was not always like this. When he was young he had quite the temper and made many mistakes, but he sinned less these days. He had learned to discipline his body and make it behave. Like Paul said, 'I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected' (1 Corinthians 9:27).

That is the goal, and it is not a quick process. None of us are perfect, none of us are without sin, but we are working on it. Hopefully, I will sin less this year than last year. And if you do sin, repent and get back up. Grace, forgiveness and acceptance can be yours if you only ask. We all fall down. Repent, get back up, and try to sin less.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for saving me. Forgive me of any sin in my life. Wash me and I will be clean. Guide me to where I need to be. Help me walk upright as a child of the Most High God, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! The highlighted group of the week is In the Valley of Pain: this group was created to support those who suffer from chronic pain conditions, such as osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. The members of the group support each other with prayer, tips that have worked for them, and just being there for each other! (Please do note that you should always check with your medical professional before trying any new remedies). ALSO, the Creation Photographers theme of the week is "April Showers bring...Mud Puddles and May Flowers" :), based on Luke 12:27-28! FINALLY, for those who missed the RHM Live service, the recording of the message is now available! You can find links to all of these announcements at the top of the home page here. Have a blessed day!

Wow reading the man's walk felt like it can happen to gain such growth on the Lord.  Yet knowing we can as for forgiveness and be cleansed is sooo precious, can't be earned or bought just received.  This Elder is someone to hang around with.

It is certainly not an overnight thing, more like quitting a bad habit like smoking. It takes time, discipline, patience and endurance. And sometimes those things take time to learn and develop as well. Great message, Pastor Dion, thanks.
