One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, 'If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!' But the other answered, and rebuking him said, 'Don't you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? Luke 23:39 WEBThree men were crucified together at a place called Golgotha. T...

Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path Psalms 44:18 WEBWhen you begin to dig too deep into the 'Thou shall' and 'Thou shall nots' of the Bible and begin to compare it to your own life, it will soon overwhelm you, and you may spiral into an attitude of defeat. Rest from Stress from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about resting from stress. Jesus Christ, who lived on Earth as our example, lived a simple life of trust and peace. When He and the disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee on their fishing boat and a great storm came, Je...

An Infinite Loop

  • Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matt 6:34 NIV

Each time I would open the test application on the computer, the processor usage would climb to 100 percent and the computer would slow to a crawl. The cursor would just show an hour glass or the spinning ball, and soon become unresponsive. All the system resources were being used up, but it was accomplishing nothing. In the code, I had forgotten to include a proper break out and it was now stuck in an infinite loop, repeating the same thing over and over, endlessly. It would not move on. Eventually, all the remaining system resources would be used up and you would finally get (Not Responding).

Worrying about tomorrow is a lot like this. You try and solve tomorrows problems in your mind. When you fail, you try again and again. It soon becomes an infinite loop and you lie in bed staring at the ceiling. This will drain all of your energy until you are finally exhausted and not responding. The noise level in your head will grow louder and keep you from hearing Gods still small voice. You become so tired and have solved nothing.

Stop. Break out and through that wall of doubt and fear. God has tomorrow taken care of. When the problem arrives, the answer will soon appear. Today is the tomorrow that you were worried about yesterday. Do not get caught in a loop of worrying about tomorrow and miss living today. Trust God, tomorrow will take care of itself.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Only until VERY recently, I could definitely relate! Now I can nod off the second my head hits the pillow--only to be awakened approximately 4 or 5 hours later from PAIN! LOL! Ya just can't win...On Friday, I left my precious manuscript on the 709 bus. I prayed about it, left it in God's Hands, but it still hasn't turned up. Yet, somehow, I don't believe anyone stole it.God has a plan, somehow--I just can't see it right now.

Tina G
Tina G Oh oy did I get stuck in that loop the last several days. Yesterday the still small voice (I think God had to YELL at me) said what CAN you do? Do it! And what is completely out of your control? (Let Me handle it) what a relief! So I'm getting back on track. Thank you guys for for giving me confirmation, and for refreshing my hope.

Susan Helms
Susan Helms As I get older, I tend to worry more.  I try to give it to God but most of the time I tend to still have a pinch-hold on it.  I am a work in progress, always will be.  But there are times of immeasurable peace.  God is good and patient.

Anthony Kulbicki
Anthony Kulbicki love it Pastor Todd. This was one of the first vs I learned remembered, along with Matt 6:33...I woke earlier than I would've like to this morn but before long I was praying and thanking God, nothing intense, just as I'd remember things from yesterday and those things were trying to cause me problems today, His word was coming to mind almost immediately. God is Good!

Carol Pady
Carol Pady I struggled with being a mother hen, worrying about my grown children, trying to solve their problems. Then over and over God told me to let go let God. I know He is in control of their lives. They are believers and He will not let anything snatch them out of His hands. Now I pray and give it my Father. It is still hard at times but I am learning!

Leslie Murphy Amen. I definitely needed this word. I have been so worried about how to get my transcripts from a college that says I owe them money; so I can continue on with my education with another college. The only thing I can do is put it in God's hands.

Susan Shane
Susan Shane A year ago, I started #TuesdayTime on Facebook and Twitter. It is an inspirational or philosophical quote with a picture. They are just something to think about. If you would like to get them, you can follow me on Twitter (@susanmargot2) or send me a friend request on Facebook. You may be able to get it just by typing #TuesdayTime,  but I'm not sure because I'm still learning about tech.

Liz Birnschein
Liz Birnschein thanks for being here on my email each and every day.  I have just received a phone call from the hospital ER as my 92 year old mom is there.  She, at this age in her life, needs no care--no walker, no hearing aids, no oxygen--she can still run circles around mental most of her 5 children.  Hearing that she is there and I am not near is hard.  Yet, here was the message "live today and do not worry for tomorrow." I just need to remember to pray for good health for her today and that all the doctors can determine what is causing the complications.  Thanks, everyone, for listening to me.  love to all. Barbara Mango
Barbara Mango Thank you Pastor Todd. I love these daily devotionals and really think you would make a terrific pastoral counselor. I have been dealing with a lot for the past 9 years, and I get a lot of e-mail everyday, but if I had to save one e-mail out of all of them, it would be the one that links me to this site, because here I do find resfreshing hope.

Ruth Martin
Ruth Martin One of my favorite sayings that often runs through my mind, except at night. . ."If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it" I've tried to keep that in my mind and heart specially these days, but at night. . .too often I become caught up in the exact loop Pastor Todd is talking about. I forget a simple thing my Grandpa (not a Church goer, but very much a representative of Christ in our lives) used to tell me when I couldn't fall asleep. Close your eyes, pray. As a child and teenager I used to fall asleep praying and guess what. . .first thing on my mind in the morning was continuing the prayer. Thank you Grandpa, and thank you Pastor for bringing such wonderful memories and simple answers back to my heart and mind.
