As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desir...

He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, 'Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.' Simon answered him, 'Master, we wor...

He told them this parable. 'Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?' Luke 15:3 WEBWhen I first got serious about serving the Lord Jesus, I was a musician and played ...

Let it Go

  • Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph! Does my father still live?' His brothers couldn't answer him; for they were terrified at his presence. Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come near to me, please.' They came near. 'He said, I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. Now don't be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.' Genesis 45:3 WEB

Joseph was sold into slavery when he was a youth, by his own brothers. Then he spent time in prison for a crime that he did not commit, but Joseph served God and used the gifts in his life wherever he found himself. Joseph was of exceptional character and the Lord was with him. He did not become filled with bitterness and spend his time sulking in a corner, licking his wounds, feeling sorry for himself. Joseph did not get overcome by past events, and that is all that they were, events that happened in the past.

Joseph became the ruler over Egypt and the day came when his brothers stood before him hungry and in need. When he was given the opportunity to get even with them, Joseph pardoned them and let them go. He knew that God was in control of his life. He told them 'God sent me before you to preserve life.'

When you have bitterness against someone else, it is like drinking poison yourself and thinking that it will hurt them, but it will only hurt you. Joseph could have become an angry, bitter person that no one wanted to be around. He could have refused to help the others around him because of what he had been through, but it would have cost him his destiny. Using his gifts to help others is what eventually freed him from prison.

When they do not want to live with you any longer, let them go. God has someone better waiting that will treat you right. When you wrongfully lose your job, let it go. Consider it a promotion for God has a better one coming and you would have been unavailable.

When your family has treated you like trash, let it go. God has others that will love you in their place. Stay sweet and continue your love walk. Like Joseph, God is able to lift you above them and they will have to look up to you one day.

When you feel that your entire life has been one long mistake, let it go. Turn to God and He will wash you as white as snow and give you a new beginning. Hold onto God every day, but let go of the events that happened in the past.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that You give me the grace to let go of my past. I want to serve You Lord and walk in all that You have for me today. Guide me, teach me, help me to see through Your eyes, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Heavenly Father, I pray that I would see everyone the way you do.

I also pray for you to remind me that everyone is battling something.

let my words be your words, and remind that a smile may make someone's day.

in the precious name of Jesus I pray.

Amen. Humans may fail us. God never fails. Jesus sticks closer than a brother. If everyone should abandon me, I am not alone for I have My Abba Father and my Jesus with me always.

When they do not want to live with you any longer, let them go. God has someone better waiting that will treat you right. When you wrongfully lose your job, let it go. Consider it a promotion for God has a better one coming and you would have been unavailable........................Both of these things have happened to me and what you say is so true... Praise God.  I was raised to marry for life, but after 18 years, the person I loved became someone I did not recognize and after a long struggle I gave up and gave him the freedom he so wanted.  I prayed for the Lord to send me someone and He sent my old high school sweetheart back. He had been rejected also and was devastated.  We healed together and love each other in spite of our many faults.  I got fired from a job that totally was unfair because I was really working as hard as I could, but was an advocate for clients and this went against the grain of their organization, which was all about numbers.  The timing of this firing lead me to the best boss and job I ever had where client advocating made our business grow and we were able to help many people.  It was also a Christian environment to work in which was a real blessing as well.  Good lesson Pastor.  Thanks.

I was thinking about Joseph this very morning and how long did it take him to get to total forgiveness.  I kept thinking about when he had beomce 2nd in command in Egypt why he didn't send out a "get even" group to punish his brothers. He must have reached that letting go, forgiving awhile earlier. Thank you for the word this morning!

I really enjoyed reading this devotional testimony. I think that I have had trouble in the past forgiving others, For some reason after I would constantly experience the hurt and pain of it all I would notice that hey I have not forgiven this person yet. So I asked the Lord to help me forgive them for what that person has done. Somehow afterwards I am able to move forward like Joseph. I still have realized that I still have to work on forgiveness. Because I want to live a long life and be happy and healthy. I really enjoyed reading this devotional.
