As Scary As Hell

  • He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated. And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Daniel 3:19 ESV

As they were pushed to the edge of the roaring furnace, the heat coming up from the inferno killed the soldiers around them. Then they themselves were falling through the burning air, down into the fire below them. This was all because they had taken a stand for the Lord and refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar's golden image.

I am sure it was scary as they looked down into the furnace, but they landed safely at the bottom and found they were not alone. There was a fourth Person in the furnace with them. The ropes that bound them burned off of them but they were unharmed and did not even smell like smoke. A nice touch.

You are going to make it. Though it looks as scary as hell itself, you are going to make it. Do not waver in your faith and do not compromise. When you get to the bottom you will find that you are not alone and only the things that are holding you back will be burned away.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that you are with me and that no weapon formed against me will prosper. I submit to Your will for my life and I know that you will bring me through this, in the name of Jesus.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

I do feel overwhelmed at times by life's journey.

This message seems fitting for the situation as does when Peter began to walk towards Jesus on the water but then became overwhelmed by the water around hand it caused him to sink. He was more focused on his fear than on Jesus. I'm sure many of us have felt that way.

Thanks again.

Amen He is our refuge and our strength. He rescued his people from Pharoah and his army,  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednegos, Daniel from the lions, David from Goliath, Noah and his family from the flood, and so many more, He will rescue us from all evil and harm, He will rescue America from its evil oppressors, if we trust in Him to do so.

2 Corinthians 12:9 For my strength is made perfect in weakness.     "A primary qualification for serving God with any amount of success, and for doing God's work well and triumphantly, is a sense of our own weakness. When God's warrior marches forth to battle, strong in his own might, when he boasts, "I know that I shall conquer, my own right arm and my conquering sword shall get unto me the victory," defeat is not far distant. God will not go forth with that man who marches in his own strength. He who reckoneth on victory thus has reckoned wrongly, for "it is not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts." They who go forth to fight, boasting of their prowess, shall return with their gay banners trailed in the dust, and their armour stained with disgrace. Those who serve God must serve Him in His own way, and in His strength, or He will never accept their service. That which man doth, unaided by divine strength, God can never own. The mere fruits of the earth He casteth away; He will only reap that corn, the seed of which was sown from heaven, watered by grace, and ripened by the sun of divine love. God will empty out all that thou hast before He will put His own into thee; He will first clean out thy granaries before He will fill them with the finest of the wheat. The river of God is full of water; but not one drop of it flows from earthly springs. God will have no strength used in His battles but the strength which He Himself imparts. Are you mourning over your own weakness? Take courage, for there must be a consciousness of weakness before the Lord will give thee victory. Your emptiness is but the preparation for your being filled, and your casting down is but the making ready for your lifting up." ~ Spurgeon

Pondering this morning on the lesson this passage has for my life. Praying to live in God's will -- to stop praying for Him to bless and provide for my will. A difficult distinction. Thank you, Pastor Dion, for the opportunity to meditate on this. Praise God!

Amen  In life sometimes things do look scary as hell to many of us. That's when we need to stop call on the Holy Spirit to help us walk threw what ever it may be. Keep calling Jesus too we are loved so much that they will walk us threw they no all our troubles. I've been walking threw my own hell got over 4.5 years. Dropping off medication that a doctor put me on . He not only put me on one medication it was 10 or more. Dropping off them has caused lots of anxiety and known I'll have another to drop when i'm done with the one before. I am at the last one and it's the worst one dropping. Yes I can't lie it's scary as hell. It benn 4.5 years and even when i'm scared I call on Jesus and talk to the Holy Spirit. I've come this far even being scared God has not let me down. So even if i'm scared it's natural to feel like that. I'll keep dropping until I reach the finish line. I pray my Father meets me there with open arms and he's been getting all the Glory and he always will. Father, your the best Father a child of God could ever have. Thank You and I Love You!!! I am forever your child Diane. I give you all the praise and the glory. Amen

Pastor Dion thank you for todays devotion this was speaking to me today. Amen

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that you are with me and that no weapon formed against me will prosper. I submit to Your will for my life and I know that you will bring me through this, in the name of Jesus. Amen

I can really relate, Diane--I stopped taking a very powerful prescription drug over 6 months ago and I'm only beginning to feel like "me" again! I thought I was going to die, but never gave up hope. And these daily devotionals always seem to speak directly to me.God bless you for sharing!

love,

Kathy

Thank you for reminding me that God is in control. I must yield and submit to His will and put Him first to win the battles of life! God is good and His mercy endures forever! I have been stuck in the negative and letting satan mess with my head! The battle belongs to the Lord!!!!
