For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence firm to the end, while it is said, "Today if you will hear his voice, don't harden your hearts, as in the rebellion." For who, when they heard, rebelled? Wasn't it all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? Hebrew...

The Pianist

  • I have said these things to you, while still living with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. John 14:24 WEB

As I look at my piano, there are twelve keys repeated across the length of the keyboard. There are only seven ivory keys and five ebony, yet a talented pianist can make endless music out of these twelve keys. They can play love songs, sad songs, happy songs, classical and so much more. Every day they may compose something fresh using the same twelve keys.

The Bible has a set amount of words, but the Holy Spirit brings something fresh out of it every day. Each time that you read it, you may learn something new. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals this. Peter and John were uneducated men, yet the teachers of the day were astonished at them (Acts 4:13). It was because the Holy Spirit taught them. When Peter preached his first sermon under the power of the Spirit, about three thousand people were saved (Acts 2:41).

When you read your Bible, first pray and ask God to help you understand His word. The Lord Jesus said that the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send, will teach you all things. Just as a pianist can compose a new song using the same twelve keys, the Holy Spirit can bring new light to an old scripture. With His help, the Bible is an endless volume of relevant knowledge, a living book, that is always fresh, amazing, and beautiful.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please teach me Your word. Help me understand and remember it. Clear my mind of bad things and bring Your scriptures to remembrance when I need them, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Happy Friday! We are expecting a large amount of rain here from Hurricane Matthew today and tomrrow, though nothing as bad as in other areas. We are not expecting power issues, but if the website happens to be down at all, that will be why. We would appreciate your prayers on that, and I know we are all praying for those who are taking the brunt of the storm. Have a blessed day and thank you for being part of our church family!

I was reading 1 Corinthians 12 this morning: many parts yet one body in Christ. Your message reminds me that God has connected us in the RHM work. Praise the Lord for His Spirit who provides insight and understanding. Praying for you and Sylvia and our east coast family as Matthew rages. Safety and well-being!

Blessings to you & all who live in that area Matthew rolling thru.  Our paper has a huge pic of the highway filled in Florida with cars & trucks running to evacuate the area.  I say in remembrance of Jesus on the boat...calm down Matthew Storm in Jesus name & go where God wants you to go.  In faith I believe..I have experienced this story..His powee.  With RHM may say it in unison to leave in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth!! Blessings to all you.

Amen and amen! Really, I think I'd be more worried about being stuck in some endless traffic jam than even the storm - sounds awful!
