Don't remember the former things, and don't consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don't you know it? If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 ESVSo there I sat in my prayer room, feeling washed up and wondering why I was there at all that day. After going through a drawn out messy divorce, I didn't go to church at ...

Pretty Woman

  • But Rahab the prostitute and her father's household and all who belonged to her, Joshua saved alive. And she has lived in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. Joshua 6:25 ESV

The least of the least, Rahab was always looked down on by the other women of the city. She was a prostitute, covered in shame with no hope, and no future. She exchanged sex for food to simply keep her and her family alive. When she trusted in the Lord and hid the spies that Joshua sent, she was brought into the Lord's family and became the great, great grandmother of King David. She is also listed in the lineage of Jesus Christ (Matt 1:15).

One of the most anointed women that I ever saw preach was a former prostitute. Almost from the time she started speaking, demons started screaming and coming out of people in the church. She said that when she first gave her life to Christ and was delivered of crack and many other things, no normal Christians would help her. Instead, she converted some of her street walking friends and started a ministry. Now God is powerfully using them to deliver people from very bad things.

No matter what you have done, no matter where you are, God has a place for you in His family. You have not wrecked your life and it can be redeemed. There is still hope. It is not too late. He will take you and use your life to reach others that are where you used to be. Start today by praying for Him to make what is important to Him, important to you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, use me today. Forgive me of my past, cleanse me from all unrighteousness and help me live my life to the fullest. Make what is important to You, important to me, in the name of Jesus.

Looked down upon, so agree with this.  Amazing how your messages align with what I'm going through.  Was called in to the boss's office yesterday and so demoralized and was told concerns of my nursing abilities.  I've been a nurse for 13 years considering going on antidepressants or changing jobs.  An outsider. I work in a culture that is different than my own and don't fit in.  My eyes are fixed on you Jesus and if this door closes so be it.  Make what is important to you, important to me.

Wow! Had a similar experience at work yesterday. Felt very demoralized; almost incompetent. But God...He will get the glory out of all of this, my sister. Just keep focused on Him!!!

Amen Pastor Dion. I can attest that Abba Father chose a very broken sinful  young woman when He chose me. Thank God for Jesus who changed me, " I became new", I became forgiven and I began to change. Just like a catepillar I went into the coccoon and for many years,  I waited and He worked in me, until I was ready to be released and set free as a butterfly to fit into the plan He chose for me. My butterfly wings may be tattered and faded from storms and old age, but I still can soar!

"Pretty Woman" has always been my favorite movie. Why? Because I see myself in it. Although I've never been a prostitute, I once lived a promiscuous life. I tried to fill the emptiness inside with men who were just as broken inside, or worse. I met Jesus and He saw my value, my worth, my beauty. There was no love that could ever compare to His. The enemy eventually seduced me back into promiscuity via empty promises of love and marriage from more broken men. After a few years, I returned to Jesus weeping for the love in Him that I had abandoned. He didn't turn me away. He welcomed me with open arms, and loved me beyond all of my hurts and fears. He swept me up into His giant love and put my feet back on the right path. So I say all of that to say this - I identify fully with today's devo because it is somewhat of a mirror image of me. And I am here to testify that Jesus' love is real, it's captivating, it's true, it's disarming, it's gentle yet strong. If you haven't experienced it, I dare you to give Him a single opportunity to penetrate your heart today. He will! And He will blow your mind while He's at it...with His steadfast loving kindness!
