Yahweh said to Joshua, "Get up! Why have you fallen on your face like that?" Joshua 7:10 WEB.Joshua lay prostrate before the ark of the Lord all that evening. Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, "It is the king of Israel!" Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshap...

But Naaman was angry, and went away and said, "Behold, I thought, 'He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper' " 2 Kings 5:11 WEB.Naaman stared at his new skin with amazement when he came up from the muddy wa...

A Light in The Darkness

  • Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the rightness of your rising. Is. 60:1 ESV

Nightfall came faster than I was anticipating and it was black night as I made my way through the swamp. Normally the moon would be out, but it was overcast and the thick trees above snuffed out everything, and I had brought no light with me. The eerie sound of frogs, crickets and whatever that was lurking behind me were terrifying. Finally I made it out of the woods and I could see the light of home in the distance. It was the most welcoming sight and I was so happy to see it.

A small candle sitting in the sunlight at mid-day is hardly noticeable. If you back away even a few feet it will begin to blend in with the surroundings and the light of the sun. It would seem insignificant, like there was nothing to be seen there. But if you were to look at that same candle in black darkness, it would seem like it was sent by God and be the most welcome site that you had ever laid eyes on.

As this world grows darker and darker, your light will shine brighter and brighter to those around you. For some people, YOU are the only light that they will ever see and God will use you to draw them. You may think that your light is only a small flicker, but to someone in total darkness, you may be the most welcoming sight they have ever seen and carry the word of God that sets people free from the darkness. Keep that fire stoked, it is going to be needed.

Sabrina B
Sabrina B I received this in an email this morning. The title caught my attention because I'm kind of in a place of darkness right now. To make a long story short, bad anxiety issues this semester in school have resulted in a recent state of depression. It has been difficult to remain close to the Lord because of this. I've been seeing that light you wrote about through other people who have been guiding me through the Word of the Lord. Who have been teaching me to turn to Him, to not just let the tears fall down but to cry to Him, to tell Him I need help. Thank so much for sharing this. I think it helped me see something new in those who have been helping me and in myself.

Denice Martin-Thompson The desire to be perfect according to my  own standards have caused me to enter into the darkness  of depression a lot. However God's light shines brighter than my depression, he is working in me to dismantle my misconception of this life. I am learning daily how to let go and let God have his way in my life.

Wendy Blake
Wendy Blake My husband is a non-believer and he has always encouraged me in my Faith and going to church even though he doesn't believe.  I feel I'm his licker of light and if I keep shining through he will see the light and one day realize it is God that makes that light shine through.  Please keep him in prayers that one day he will follow the Lord because he has such a huge heart and God could do so much with him.  The funny part is, God does so much with him already and he doesn't even know it!
