Forgiveness is for You

  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 ESV

So there I sat in my prayer room, feeling washed up and wondering why I was there at all that day. After going through a drawn out messy divorce, I didn't go to church at all and rarely prayed. I felt that the Lord was done with me. I had let Him down and the whole church as well. Yep, 'those days are finished', I thought.

I thought there may be hell in my future, but at least I was free from the hell on earth. As I sat there thinking on this, I flipped open my Bible and it fell on Rom 11:29: 'For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.' I pondered this a moment and thought what if I have not trashed God's plan for me?

I prayed about this over the next week, and that is exactly how He felt. Sure, God hates divorce, but He is divorced as well (Jer. 3:8). He's been there. He was waiting on me to get up from my bed of self condemnation and I learned that I can be forgiven as well. We all fall, but not all get up, and the church has become skilled at keeping you down after a divorce.

We all know that others can be forgiven, but often when we stumble, we just don't see it for us. When you fall, get up. God is not angry with you. He does not take back His gifts or His calling because you stumble. His plan is still on for your life and you are the only one that can stop that. Forgiveness is for you as well.

Prayer: Father, please show me areas of my life where I need to accept Your forgiveness. Set me free from my past, restore what the enemy has taken from me Lord, in the name of Jesus.

Note: Good morning! For those who missed Sunday''s service (part two of the Holy Spirit series), the recorded message is available by going to the Watch link on the site menu! ALSO, the Creation Photographers, our highlighted group of the week, fun theme of the week is "Naturally Nature", in celebration of God''s natural beauty! As always, feel free to post any other photos, too! Creation Photographers is a group that seeks to show the glory and beauty of God's creation through photography. That vision includes the beauty of things created by man, because God created us and put His spark in each of us! ANY level of photography skill is welcome and all are invited to join and enjoy!

Amen Pastor Dion . We often can forgive others much easier than we can forgive ourselves. If we are to live a Jesus centered life we must forgive ourselves, like Jesus forgives us. If the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords can forgive me my sins and shortcomings, than I too can forgive them. How arrogant of me to not forgive them when the very Son of God forgives them. He who sits at the right hand of my Abba Father forgives all of my trangressions. I need only come to Him in true repentenance,so should we be so errant as to not forgive our own selves? We must walk in His love and His ways and Jesus ways are forgivness.

As Jesus taught His disciples, Matthew 6:9–13 (ESV) "Pray then like this: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'

"Matthew 6: 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Forgiveness is truly one of the hardest tings for a human to do. Please see Psalms 103, there is so much truth in that Psalm. If God can forgive us, we certanly can forgive, it is just how He planned it!

Amen I sure need to forgive myself for something I did. It just keeps bothering me. I know it the work of the devil trying to remind me of what I did. I just need to let it go because God is not finished with me yet  Thank you Pastor Todd for this devotion.

I find the hardest part of forgiveness is forgiving yourself.  I feel responsible for a child in my care who was sexually abused many years ago by a family member. Even though I have prayed for this child and myself many times, seeing how this abuse has affected this person and is still affecting him brings it all back again. It has torn our family apart. Dear Lord please help me to accept your forgiveness, set me and my family free from the past, and restore what the enemy has taken from us , in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
