Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I don't make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time!" When he saw that, he arose,...

Choose Jesus

  • Psalm 74:26-28:My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
Romans 12:2:Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Each day brings new opportunity. Each morning that we rise up from our sleep we have quite a few choices to make. If you're like me, then you rely a lot on routine and past experience to go through the motions of moving the body from the bed to the coffee pot and so forth. Step one, step two, step three, repeat. Day in and day out. The good news is today is the day all of that changes. I am going to remind you of something that will change your perspective. Today, I want you to choose Jesus first. I know what you're thinking, "Jeff, I already chose Jesus when I accepted Him in my heart years ago." That is certainly the truth and a fact. Too many times we are told to remember and focus on our sins so that we can confess them. Ask for forgiveness and be clean.
Do you store them up and try and remember them just before communion, or do you constantly focus on your sins throughout the day, crawling into bed at night hunched over and heavy? If we really followed that mindset, we would be confessing sins all day long! The word of God says that if you are guilty of breaking just one law, you are guilty of them all! How could we keep up with that all day? Jesus goes into clarification of the depth of sin in the sermon on the mount. He tells us that if we think about another in lust than we have committed adultery. If we are angry with a brother or sister than we are guilty of murder! That sounds pretty bleak. Think you didn't crack God's top ten? Think again.
The good news today is that you have a choice. Jesus fulfilled the law and made us clean and guiltless once and for all time. There is no need to drag out our sins and focus on them. God does not want us dwelling on our sins, He wants us dwelling on Jesus. That is why our amazing Father sent Jesus to us. This takes the place of our self-righteousness. He liberated us, and so we cannot lose sight of Jesus.
Break the routine in life. Focus on Jesus, renew your mind and choose Jesus.
The other day, I was driving and the Lord talked with me about this. I was coming to work, and I felt a heaviness about a lack in my life. I felt like I was failing, not doing enough to help others at work, in the ministry, and in my own family. The Lord told me to just choose Him today, and that all will be fine. I said out loud, Jesus, I choose You today. As I did, the clouds in the sky opened up and the sun came pouring out. My whole perception of the day changed and I saw hope, felt peace, and grew in strength.
You see when we change out old habits for Jesus, we can never become rigid and closed in. We flow, and everything becomes new for today. Regardless of how many times we have been on the same road, same office, and same house. Each new day is a new day when Jesus is there. You can see things brand new, exciting, and filled with hope. Just say it with me today, " Jesus, I choose You today. I thank You for making me new today. Lead me in all things and refresh my mind and heart on You. I confess You Jesus today.
Brothers and sisters, if you said that, I believe that a new day is coming for you. The time you spent focused on sin and then on Jesus are going to flip into the right perspective today. This is the start of carrying you into a new future. Trust in Jesus and choose Him today, only do it every day, all day.
I want you all to know that I love each and every one of you. I hope you have an amazing day today.
Father, thank You for Jesus. Thank You for helping us renew our minds daily to choose Jesus in our lives above all else and watch Him renew us in every way in Jesus name, amen.
