When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you." Isaiah 43:1'2 WEB...

No Weapon forged

  • Isaiah 54:17: No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me," Declares the Lord.
Collossians 1:21-23:Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation--If you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

Living free is what God the Father wants each and every one of us to feel. We can often get caught up in what we have done, and what we continue to do wrong or right. The truth is that as we are in Jesus Christ and we can have assurance that we are free from the accuser.
The fight is in our minds. When we focus on our behavior, we will open ourselves up to the accuser. Conversely, when we point to the righteousness of Jesus Christ, we can be sure that the vindication that comes from the Father is for us.
You see, when we are focused on our behavior, we will always be in a state of fear. The reason is, that regardless of how good we think we can be, it still does not measure up. We realize it is not good enough and then the natural feeling can be, what is my punishment? When we do something that is out of character of what we perceive a Christian to be, then we look for our well deserved punishment. The truth is, that our punishment was taken out on the physical body of Jesus Christ ( Collossians 1:22) so that we may be in the Spirit of the Lord, and heir of the kingdom, and fully established in the truth.
Through Jesus and His perfect love for us, we no longer have to be consumed by fear. 1st John 4:18 tells us that perfect love casts out fear, and that is where we should reside. In the perfect love of Jesus Christ.
God the Father is in control of all things. He tells us that He created the blacksmith who forges weapons, and the destroyer to work havoc ( Isaiah 54:16). Therefore, if we stay in faith, trusting in the righteousness of Jesus Christ, then we no longer have to stand accused. Jesus has taken that from us, but we have to do our part, and push all of the fear, all of the lies, and all of the doubt out of our minds. We have to rest in the perfect gift of Jesus who took the final blow of the weapon forged against us, so that we may be free. Give Jesus the praise for being the perfect shield against all the weapons forged against us, that they fall short of harm before they can find the mark to pierce our hearts.
Continue in your faith brothers and sisters, and do not be moved. Find the hope that is promised in Jesus Christ, and stand in that truth. No matter what you hear around you, no conviction will stand over you because of the blood of Jesus.

Dion Todd I find that countering the bad with the good like Jesus did works well. Jesus countered everything with "It is written."  Q) We should be afraid of what is coming. A) God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. 2Tim 1:7. I have put my trust in God, what can man do to me? Ps. 56:11.  Doctors today have a pill for every ill. Let us find a scripture for every fear.

Jeffrey Smith Hey Carol! Thank you for your words and feedback! I truly appreciate that. I struggled with fear for many years. Pastor Dion is right on. The more you know how much Jesus loves you and accepts you, the easier it is to trust His word. His word is our promise, and when we take the emphasis off of our performance, and shift the thoughts to trusting in Jesus, we no longer have to worry or have fear about what will happen. Someone told me one time that fear and anxiety is simply the thought of a future without God in it. There is so much truth to that. We have to always remember that Gods word is eternal, and His promises are kept and true. You are loved so much, and perfect love casts out fear (1John 4:18).
