Therefore there was wrath on him, and on Judah and Jerusalem. Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that Yahweh's wrath didn't come on them in the days of Hezekiah. 2 Chronicles 32:25 WEB
Hezekiah once again humbled himself and spared his city from destruction. The Lord had given him very great possessions and he struggled each day to retain his humility (2 Chr. 32:27). Not long after this, the Babylonians visited him and his pride returned again as he showed them all of his treasures and storehouses that he had built. Later, they returned to loot it all for themselves and destroyed his beautiful city. Pride goes before destruction (Prov. 16:18).
Many times in my life, the Lord has given me opportunities to humble myself. He would give me jobs that no one else wanted, allow others to wrong me, or simply withhold the appreciation that I thought I so deserved. At other times, I have dealt with a sin or bad attitude, only to have it show up again later. Just like Hezekiah, when things start going well, it is easy to drift back to where you used to be.
Sin crouches at the door but you must rule over it (Gen. 4:7). Sins like pride are especially hard to keep behind you, but really it is just whatever sin that you are weak to that is the most difficult one. You may know better, but you just cannot seem to help it. For some it is greed or the love of money, for others, it may be lust or pornography.
The enemy will try to use anything that breaks your fellowship with the Lord as a wedge. I was raised as white trash so when the Lord raises me up, my head tends to swell like a watermelon. As long as I stay focused on Him, He will faithfully deflate it for me. I can tell so many stories where the Lord put me in a humbling situation before He would use me as His messenger.
You can never finally say, 'I have dealt with _____ for the last time' because it will try and return when you least expect it. Stay on guard against anything that you have been weak to. What you feed will grow; what you starve will die. Don't open that door to the past again, you know who is there.
Prayer: Father, I pray that You strengthen me, and make me steady. I want to serve You the rest of my days and make a difference while on the earth. Teach me to hear when You are speaking, and to recognize Your voice. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Whoa what a teaching!!!!!
Man. Amen Ad infinitum Brother. The Scripture "The Prosperity of Fools shall Destroy them" always rears it's Wise annoying head whenever I start feeling cocky. I notice when I have a pocket full of money, I tend to tell folks off a whole lot quicker than when I'm broke, lol.
Amen!!!
God does give us power to overcome, I pray that I will keep listening to His voice. He establishes me and finishes what He starts.
Amen. Thank you Pastor Dion. We need a good reminding of what we should already know. And it's not that we don't know it, we just tend to ignore it. Bless you brother.

This is a good devotional. I think that I have held on to past events even when I pray about it. Instead of leaving the past behind I tend to worry. But some how I manage to get through each day. My job is ok but sometimes it gets a little hectic. I pray each day and try to put it in Gods hands.
