My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand. John 10:27'29 WEB.The hero of t...

The Sand Castle

  • Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock. Matthew 7:24 WEB

When I was young, I once built a sand castle on the beach. I put a lot of work into it, but later the tide came in and washed it all away. When the tide went back out, there was not even a trace of my masterpiece left. It had failed to endure the test of time.

In this life, it is easy for other things to become the center of your attention, and then you start to build everything around that. When the tide rolls in, your life can come tumbling down with it.

Jobs end, people change, beauty fades, children grow up, everything that we see with our natural eye is temporary and will change over time. All these have a place in your life, but they cannot be the center because when they change, your life will, too. You will never be stable unless you develop that personal relationship with Jesus, the Rock.

Put your trust in God and do not build your life around things that change. Build it around Jesus and then you can still enjoy the rest. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). He is the unchanging, everlasting rock, and the ones that trust in Him will not be wiped out when the tide changes.

Prayer: Father, I want You to be the center of my life. Help me put things in the proper perspective and get my priorities in order. Give me the grace to live a life that is pleasing in Your sight, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Living a Jesus centered life s the only way to thrive in this world. No matter what comes against, what tries to distract and change that course, we must keep Him as the center of our lives. We must toss out our anchor and remain there, steadfast in prayer, bible study and fasting. Always with our eyes upon the cross. We must follow Him daily and let Him lead us to still waters. Let Him calm the storm and let Him perform the miracles in our lives. We must always abide in Jesus. This is the way to peace that passes all understanding. As we walk with Him and talk with him throughout our daily lives He enables us to live an abundant life. Not a life free from storms or trials, but a life in deep intimate relationship with our Savior.

Yesterday I sang a current song in my head all day: If you don't move the mountain...part the water or...give the answer, I will trust in You! Today I'll be humming the "The wise man built his house upon the rock..." I can tell you're a musical guy, Dion. Your messages have a beautiful way of guiding me through the day. Thank you!

Amen!! Thank you Pastor, Dion for your daily devotion that so many enjoy. <3 Todays devotion is one that was always spoke to us from my mother. My daughter even says this all the time. She makes sure she tells one if they are moving to a area that the homes are built on sand. Martha Pena, we better forget moving to the Florida Keys I don't think it will work... <3
