As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desir...

Blood in the Water

  • He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalms 147:3 WEB

When sharks sense blood in the water, they will go into a feeding frenzy where they attack the wounded and devour them, even if it is another shark. They get so caught up in this that they may even turn and attack each other. The water becomes cloudy, everything becomes blurred, and everyone around them becomes a target.

Church life can be messy. We are all imperfect people trying to represent a perfect God, and when we fail, people get wounded. Many are just victims of church abuse and it is not their fault at all. If you get deeply involved in a church, chances are that you are going to find things that you don't like about it. You can find yourself being one of the wounded.

Jesus reached out to the hurting, he touched the outcasts, he ate with the sinners, and He told us parables like the good Samaritan who stopped to help the wounded man. We are to help the wounded among us, not turn and destroy their lives, dash their hopes, and drive them away.

Today if you know someone that has been wounded, reach out to them. You might just be the only friend that they have on earth at a time when everyone else has turned their back on them. If you are one of the wounded, hang on to God and understand that God still loves you, but His followers can often fail to show it.

Prayer: Father I thank You for today. Forgive me of hurting others, as I forgive those that have hurt me. Help me live a life of victory and make my enemies live at peace with me. Help me be slow to speak and to always think first. Use me to heal the hurting, rescue the lost, forgive the unforgiving, and bind up their wounds, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for getting me through yesterday, a very difficult day!  While my Dad is resting in your heavenly arms along with my Mom, the holidays and everyday can be a struggle at times; however, you always see me through the tough and difficult times.  I also pray for all those who like myself no longer have parents and who feel like orphans who have no one to turn to or cling to like we did as children.  Thank you for filling the void and for knowing that the loss and hurt can be unbearable but as long as we believe in your son Jesus, ALL will eventually be alright.  Amen!!

I am in your boat. Yesterday was a little hard for me because it was the first year without my father, weird I never really had my father he was homeless and I rarely was able to find him. I never had a fathers day with him. The amazing part,Yesterday I  did, I spent the whole day looking at the sky and talking to him.

Carol, I am one that is hurting, being rejected and despised by my own son. We had an incident yesterday and he was so angry with me that I thought he was going to hit me. He was drunk and got angry with me when I told him that if he put my grandson in the car to take him to his girlfriends house across town. I told him I would call the police if he did so. He told me that I cannot tell him what to do with his son. (He gets him on the weekends.) I was very sick, but I followed them (with my grandson in the car with me) to her house. He was angry because I was to sick to watch him. A lot more to this story, but needed to share. This message as so many of Pastor Dion's have been hitting home with me, especially over the last few weeks. Please keep us in your prayers. I have FAITH that GOD will get me through this.

Thank you. Rebecca

PRAISES to our GOD! My son came by after work and apologized for all the grief he has been causing me. We had a heart to heart talk, expressing the negatives causing the both of us stress. I had a rough childhood and so did he. I was so afraid to leave my abusive husband for fear of him endangering my son and family. My son had to witness the abuse I went through and he told me it has really messed with his head that he was to small to do anything to help his mom. (me). He couldn't understand why I wouldn't leave. We talked, cried and hugged each other, both of us wanting a fresh start. I know in my heart God is working in our lives. for now. Thank you all for the kind words and prayers. I am so thankful that I finally found a new family of Christian friends to help get me through this. Oh, by the way, He thanked me for driving, and following them home and that he was glad I kept my grandson in my car. I am in such a peaceful state now and owe it all to GOD.

ONE DAY AT A TIME....

Thank you, Pastor Dion, for the words that lift me daily.

Father, I lift up Rebecca to you and pray that you please heal her, protect her and grant her strength to deal with this situation with her family. Please deliver her son from the works of the enemy, set him free from his addictions, and replace the rage of the enemy with the peace of your Holy Spirit. Above all, please protect Rebecca's grandson and keep him from harm, in the name of Jesus, amen <3.

Have you ever noticed that even humans gathered in a large group may act this way...circling and attacking the wonded?   Safety in numbers?  Group insanity?

Praise Abba that most of the time there are at least a few among the many who will stand with the wounded and get them to safety.

I think the situation is that some people tend to get "tunnel vision" and only see what's in front of them. They don't mean to hurt anybody, but their focus is solely on what's in their path at any given moment. I think what needs to be done is to remind people to open their eyes and to pay attention to the others that are around them. To forgo their own little worlds and to take part in the much larger world around them, to help instead of hurt. It's so easy to get caught up in our own lives that we fail to see how we might adversely effect others. Sometimes a little push in the right direction can bring about a great response. Peace and blessings to all! :)

I think that's likely a reason, Tyler, in particular with situations where it is not overt actions that are a problem, but people who feel they were being ignored. Really, this tunnel vision can happen on both sides of the fence. It's true that we may not be aware enough to see those who have been hurt. On the other side, the one who was hurt may see only his/her own situation and see the lack of response as a malicious action, instead of the reality that people were not aware at all, or aware of how important it might be to the person, or may be embroiled in their own pains.

Thank you Dion, your words are so to the heart and soul of my problems of the past.  I lived in that past until I had a spiritual awakening.  I had never stopped letting the past control me here in the present.  I frequently felt like the bait, now I have totally opened myself to God, He's the Man in charge.  I am no longer the prey. Today I am able to reach out to others in need as God guides me to.

Amen!! Thank you Pastor Dion for your daily devotion. I have to learn to be slow to speak right now in my life due to all that happen. I can go off on my three sisters like a loose cannon. I hold back because I don't want the children that got hurt to have to know that fighting is going on. My nieces and other children will feel like they're to blame and they're not. They broke a 32 year sick think that was going on. They need to know that they did the best thing for every little girl that he would have come across if they didn't tell. Father I pray you give them favor and help them threw the hurt they live threw, for some it was many hear other it was a one time thing. Father, he's in your hands now and where he needs to be I pray you deal with what needs to be done with him. I pray in Jesus, Name Amen. <3 Father, you get all the praise and glory. <3 I Love You!! <3 Many are still hurting and are out cast from all that happen. I rather stand alone with God my Father than stand with toxic people. Amen

Sylvia, Thank you so much for your kind words and prayer. I am so thankful to have new friends who are so strong in the Lord and make me feel like I am family..the family I never truly had.

Pastor Dion, Thank you so much for your daily words. There have been so many times that I have been so down and afraid and just had no one to understand all I have and am going through. I am so thankful for all of you for letting me be a part of your lives. I cannot express how grateful I am. This site is the first I go to each morning at prayer time. My illness causes me not to focus and concentrate clearly, so I am still getting used to all you all have to offer. I have a hard time sitting and typing for more than a few minutes at a time. I pray as each day goes by, I can learn more and be able to join in on the feeds. One day at a time,,,sometimes---one minute at a time for me. I praise my heavenly Father for opening these new doors for me.
