The Vineyard from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. I have always admired Amos, who was a shepherd in a field when the Lord told him to go and prophesy to King Jeroboam in Bethel. The priest Amaziah told him to prophesy somewhere else. They weren't interested in what the Lord had to say, but A...

Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

The Closed Door

  • And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. Acts 16:6 ESV

There was a season in my life where I really caught fire for God. I fasted and prayed for Him to remove anything in my life that was holding me back from being closer to Him. Everything was rosy for about two weeks, and then I was called to the office and laid off. For the first time in my life, I stood in the unemployment line and I was asking, 'God where are you?'

During this time I looked everywhere for work but could find nothing. Finally after an interview one day, this company hired me over the phone and told me to be ready to start on Monday. While driving to work on Monday, I prayed that the Lord would keep me in His will, close any doors that He did not want me to go through, and to open the right one.

When I got there, they had already hired someone that they thought was me! Eventually, the right door opened somewhere else, I got a job, and led several people to the Lord during my time there.

Do not fight closed doors. They truly are signs of God's love for you, a confirmation that He is guiding you, and that He has something better for you right around the corner.

Prayer: Father, please close the doors that I should stay out of and open the door that I am supposed to go through. I want Your perfect will in my life, in the name of Jesus.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Amen! The hardest part is the waiting and wondering if indeed I am where he wants me as one door after another closes for employment. I asked for myself so I have to be grateful... every interview or application my prayers are the same... "Father I only want your will, Open this door only if it is your will and close it tight if it is not." Mostly this prayer has helped much stress and heartache over not getting any of those doors to open... I know I got what I asked for... God's will and guidance into an exciting and scary new adventure in publishing my own book!  God is good all the time! I know he has good plans and I'm trying to follow but I have to say I prefer stable income and will be much more comfortable when a door for stable earnings and making enough to actually pay my bills each month is in God's will! His timing always and I'm trying to be patient as I do see all he has blessed us with through this lean and learning time. Complete trust is what he's asking and I am trying. Rebuking satan for his fears and doubt! Focusing my eyes on the one that makes a way out of no way! Thank you Pastor! Another great devotion! Pastor's Prayer: Father, please close the doors that I should stay out of and open the door that I am supposed to go through. I want Your perfect will in my life, in the name of Jesus.

Twila Stierwalt I am learning that God will open doors in His timing. I quit bagging on those cloosed doors and I need to learn patience to wait on God. Psalm 62:1-2 and 5-8, These verses has helped me so much.

Carol Pady Amen! Not every open door is an invitation. If we trust Him to lead us He will, even if it is somewhere we don't want to go. Yet when we get there we find it was the perfect place for us to be!

Kath Paro
Kath Paro   Dion~ I haven't posted here in a while.  The devotionals have not connected with me.  I have had my mind and spirit closed perhaps. Today I thought, I can't identify but then as I was reading others comments it be an to register with me.  Today my mind is more open. As an alcoholic with many years of recovery I found myself "stuck".  The door was shut for me.  Another door opened for me by asking for help which is very hard for me to do.  My higher Power has guided me to the solution, now I have to do the work.  I can't do it without His help.  Thank you for showing me this is just another door opening for me.  Amen!

Leslie McLea
Leslie McLea As I get ready to post 2 more job searches to unemploymnet I hit my 62nd application/resume. I have prayed this prayer that P. Dion posted. I have cried, I have searched, I have waited.  on June 29th is my last day for my last unemployment check if the calucations are correct. I have had two physiclal interviews and one phone interview in these last 9 months. I have not had the choices to eat what is better for me and I have gained weight, my BP has continued to climb with numbers that sent me to the hospital. I have a follow up doc apt on Tue June 7th. costing me $30.00 copay. I have had to move money around placing it where it needed to go and leave the choice for foods last. This has been a trial by fire, yet, I know God is in this furnace with me for I see His handprints in many areas. God brought me out of that job I was in and had provied me with three months of severnence, so from the end of October 2015 to then of December 2015 He covered me. When I was down to nothing, I began to collect unemployment then food stamps. He has sent many a raven to feed us. The church pantry has been a blessing each month with generous amounts. The stress and pressure of this time has been very great and I have spent time in the emergency room with an anxiety attack they thought might be a heart attact. But HE brought me out. God said He will not leave me nor forsake me, all I can do is trust, believe, and wait. I have two employment agencys working on my behalf, but that does not mean I can sit back and do nothing, it is still up to me to find jobs I can post against so that I can get another unemployment check. The stress and pressure remain as I wait on God to unfold His will in my life. Prayer: Father, please close the doors that I should stay out of and open the door that I am supposed to go through. I want Your perfect will in my life, in the name of Jesus.
