Memories

  • The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever. 1 John 2:17 WEB

Standing in the parking lot, I felt like a fish out of water. Panic, fear, abandonment, hatred, and a few other strong emotions rolled over me as I watched the car drive away.

It was my first day of school and I was dumped off in the parking lot at Kingston Elementary. Six years old, completely lost, knowing no one, and starting in the first grade. I had lived my whole life up to that point barefoot on a farm.

This particular stepmother had kept me out of kindergarten the year before because it was too much trouble. They would probably have kept me out of school altogether if not for the truant officer, but that morning she drove me to school, pushed me out of the car, and drove away.

Eventually a teacher found me wandering around and helped me get to the right class. Each day became easier and soon I enjoyed school. Now that first day is only a memory and something bad, turned out to be something good.

There are many things in my past that were traumatic or seemed like the end of the world while they were happening, but now they are only a memory. All of the troubles and trials that we go through in this life are temporary and they will pass.

Be encouraged today because even if the world passes away, to those with eternal life, it will just be a memory. None of it is the end for us, not even death. We will spend eternity with the Lord Jesus, making more memories. Keep a positive attitude, trust God to work it out for the best, and don't let a fearful situation get the best of you, for this too will soon pass.

Prayer: Father, my eyes are on You. Walk with me today and let me know that You are there. Send me the Comforter like You promised for I need You more than ever, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! The highlighted group of the week is Keep It Simple Crafts: This group is about the joy of creating beautiful, yet simple, projects for your home, as gifts or just for fun! Crafts that can be created with little-to-no skill are encouraged here. ALSO,  the FAAD Chat topic this week will be Love Can Overcome! It will take place on Thursday evening at 7pm EST. If you have been burdened by anxiety and depression, the chat is a great place to learn, and meet others who are on the same journey! The Creation Photographers fun theme this week is "Bugs on Patrol"! Though they may be seen as pests, all of God's creatures are part of His plan. As always, you are free to post other pics, too!

Debbie Schwartz Thank you Pastor Dion, your messages are truly from the Lord.  The trials I have been so afraid of have really turned into blessings in so many ways. I never thought I would be going through life alone, but I'm never alone.  I am listening to the rain this morning with birds chirping and peace.  Trials are many in life but I'm never alone.  Thank you for reminding me!

Kath Paro Dion~ This reminds me that yes I am skilled thanks, to my Higher Power to turn every thing that happens into blessings and show those around me a positive attitude about it.  I wrote a whole life experience of my life full of what could be considered hardships that were blessings and gifts from God.  Life is all on how you take it positive or negative, today I choose positive.  This is only by the grace of God.  Bless you Dion, thank you once again.

Carol Pady The darkest moments and the hardest battles, are for my good. Just saying that sounds peculiar. Yet in God's ways it is ture. Just as being a servant to all is greater than being a King. Living life as a Christian is living many things opposite of what the world teaches us. To go in, one must come out. (John 15:19) To go up, one must come down. (James 4:10) To be first, one must be last. (Matthew 20:16) To be great, one must be least. (Luke 9:48) To be strong, one must become weak. (2 Corinthians 12:10) To receive one must give. (Matthew 10:39) To be up in front, one must take the back seat. (Luke 14:7-11) To be exalted one must be humbled.  (Luke 14:11) To be wise, one must become a fool. (1 Corinthians 3:18) To find, one must lose. (Matthew 16:25) To live, one must die. (Galatians 2:20; Jn 3:3) To be all He wants us to be , we must endure fiery trials, so He can raise us up as strong Christian warriors!

Barbara Mango
Barbara Mango Thanks for these encouraging words, Pastor Todd. Indeed, life has many scary times, and often we find ourself facing them with no one by our side but the Lord. The world is filled with fair-weather-friends, people who are there to share your good times, but who vanish when things turn south. It's only my faith in knowing that God is there for me during all weather, that has been my main source of comfort. Thank You Lord for never forsaking us!
