The Vineyard from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. I have always admired Amos, who was a shepherd in a field when the Lord told him to go and prophesy to King Jeroboam in Bethel. The priest Amaziah told him to prophesy somewhere else. They weren't interested in what the Lord had to say, but A...

Proverbs 24:16 WEB.Once again, I was the one who promised he would never do it again, then went and did it again. I had slowly drifted away one more time. I have found that it's easy to make promises...

Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

Septic Tanks

  • God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn't do it. But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry. Jonah 3:10 WEB

There is nothing quite like cracking open a septic tank first thing in the morning, especially during a hot summer in the South. When you get a whiff of the fresh sewage, it will not be a pleasant aroma, but I can tell you that it will be a lasting one. For a period of my life, that is what I did to earn a living, pumping out septic tanks with a vacuum truck. We would often do five or six a day.

One thing that I soon noticed was this: they all smelled alike. Whether it was a church, a country club, a mansion on a hill, or a trailer park, when you opened up the septic tank, they all had the exact same smell coming out of them, and it reeked.

Jonah did not want to go to Nineveh and preach, but God persuaded him to go anyway. After Jonah delivered his message of destruction, the entire city repented of their wicked ways and turned to God. He showed them mercy and spared them from the coming destruction. This made Jonah angry because Nineveh did not get what they deserved.

When God looked down, they all smelled alike. Sin is bad and everyone has it. There is no need to point at someone else's for God is nearly heaving from the smell of yours, unless you are covered by the blood of Jesus.

It took me a long time to figure out that God did not dislike the same people that I did, and that the people that have wronged us will get the same forgiveness that we do if they just ask for it. All of their past deeds will be wiped out if they repent, just like ours will.

It is not that people are good, it is because God is good. Before, during, and after a divorce, God loves both parties involved and wishes that none would ever be lost. God loves you, those that dislike you, and those that vote differently from you. None that repent will get what they deserve. Mankind has a lot in common, we all need forgiveness. Thank God it is there for the asking and completely free.

Prayer: Father, please forgive me for judging others and help me clean up my own life first. Thank You for having mercy on us and give me grace to show that mercy to others, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning and happy Mother''s Day! May you all have a very blessed day, especially the moms!

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Amen! Thank you for such wise words! I spent 5 long years being angry with my mom...while I was in this land of unforgiveness I wanted everyone to choose sides, it was me or mom and I wouldn't be talking to you if it was mom. I am so thankful I am not in that place anymore and have a better understanding of God's love for us all. Things still hurt but I can put them where they belong better now and know we all fall short so we all need forgiveness. Pastor's  Prayer: Father, please forgive me for judging others and help me clean up my own life first. Thank You for having mercy on us and give me grace to show that mercy to others, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Becky Hines
Becky Hines Pastor , how beautiful the timing of this message is, God's perfect timing. I've lost my daughter to the evil influence of Satan. She has no respect for me and at age 31 she may never. Her mind has been poisoned by my sister and my brother. But that's ok. I know my redeemer lives and I know in His perfect timing He will remove the scales from her eyes. Until then I'll Praise him live life joyously serving Him. It's a great mother's day! Amen!

Darletha Kitchens Thank you Pastor. Also I am asking that every one prays for my son. He has been battling a medical condition for a year and a half and not  getting any better. He is frustrated and says he doesn't know how much more his body can take. I am staying in prayer but I am frustrated too. Just please keep Maurice in prayer.

Karen Pasquinelli
Karen Pasquinelli AMEN!!  When I lived in California we had a septic in our back yard for many years, until we could afford to hook up to sewers, so when it got full we called our pump guy.  We got to know him pretty well, that eventually he put in a clay pipe with a plug, so that when he came to pump he didn't have to dig it up each time.  Before we hooked to sewers the pumping became a monthly thing. Finally we got sewers put in and that was a blessing in disguise.

K K
K K Thank you for that! Timely. When it rains it pours and it's hard not to find yourself judging my those who are not unfairly judging you. I've asked for a lot of peace and Gods grace in my prayers this week. God is good. Can't say it's fixed, but I'm doing my best to not be a judge back. Amen

Diane Symborski✝
Diane Symborski✝ Amen!! My sister's have not talked to me since last summer. My older sister's husband she was married to for 32 years was put in prison. He was a very wealthy guy from South Africa the two of them act like they could do anything my sister really let the money go to her head. I feel and i know my sister well I lived with her while in high school in Florida she was young and devorced. I went to live with her to help her out and my dads family lived there. I love Florida. Bac to her  husband and what was he doing? He was doing things that I heard many years ago. I told them all but went and went to his wife first. She played it down. Last summer they all wanted me to tell a lie to make her look good. Why do you need to lie if you don't know anything about what was going on for 32 years. They turned on me because if anyone ask I told the truth. I just thank God for keeping his hands on me and letting me know don't you lie for them or him what was done was sick. This husband of hers molested many little girls for many years tGod don't like that they are his small children. I knew not to go near them they drink and call me the holy one and posted evil things on face book about me dirty lies. They told me many times you need a good drink that's what's wrong with you. Know I need more of you Lord and that's what I need. Amen. <3  Thank You, Pastor Dion!! <3 This devotion really got me thinking about all that's been going on. I hurt and it's painful I love my sister but really had a pure love for the three. I have to keep my distance they're toxic women. I can love from a distance God, got me covered. He didn't bring me this from to let me go. Father, thank You and I love You with all my heart. <3 I pray that one day my broken heart and the withdrawal all goes away and my joy will return. Amen.

Cheryl Hepler Wow... to think Dion how God has used yr life happenings in teachings for us & others.  Sewage and sin..no difference.  All sin the same too..  None worse then the other.  God is sooo good.  I always think of Jesus a piece of His Father'sheart.
