The Mercedes

  • Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don't you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 WEB

A wealthy friend of mine once picked up his daughter's car to take it in for an oil change while she was at work. He stayed gone a really long time and she began to be anxious and worry about them both. Eventually, he returned driving a new Mercedes that he had bought her. The new car was much better than her old one and her anxiety was all for nothing.

Change is something that makes us uncomfortable and we often resist it, but in order for the new to come to pass, the old has to pass away. If you want a better car, or a better job, usually the old one has to go first. We would like the change to happen at once, like trading our car in for another on the same day, or starting another job on Monday.

In my experience though, God will clear out the old first, and then bring in the new. This can be scary and will test your trust while you are living it, but when it is done it will all make sense. Later, when you are looking back on it, you will see that it could not have been planned any better.

Many times I have wondered 'Well, what am I going to do now?' but He managed to take care of me and eventually the next door would open up. What you have lost, is not gone. It is being upgraded by your Father. Be thankful that He is taking care of it.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for remembering me today. I need You more than ever. Straighten out my thinking, speak to me and through me, and put me where I need to be. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! Pastor Dion has created a new Bible quiz to complement his study of Luke, Chapter 5. To find the quiz and the link to the study, just go to the "Quizzes" link on the site menu. Have a blessed day!

Deng Tembreza There is a door open up for you from our LORD GOD my friend. It is the best job ever coming from HIM. "Just put your trust in the LORD OUR GOD with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding but in all your ways and circumstances acknowledge HIM and HE will make your path straight".  Proverb 3:5-6 (my favorite verse).

Twila Stierwalt This is so true, God does know what He is doing. When He tells me not to worry about tomorrow, because today has enough probln. He does not say that today will not have any problems! I love that He wants us to live today in peace, but to do that I have to give Him my worries for today, and trust Him with them. I am wasting my time and Gods when I worry about things that have never happened. I want to keep believing that He can do a much better job with my life than I can.

Kath Paro
Kath Paro Dion~ I can't get this to connect with me right now.  Right now I am praising God my Higher Power for keeping me from defying my husband and not following his lead in our marriage.  I was going to do what I darn well thought was right, God stepped in and said I don't think so!  He was teaching me, learn your boundaries girl, you tread where you shouldn't at times.  Help from a distance, it doesn't always have to be face to face.  Drop the ego and pride, this has nothing to do with it, do it without expecting anything in return!  What a conversation I've had with Him this mornings!  I guess I did connect with your message sir, this was a change in me.  From seeking praise for me, do it because it is what Jesus would do because it was the right thing to do, not expecting glory.  Thank you Dion.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Amen! This is so true. Ten yrs ago when the bottom dropped out of our online business we were living next door to where we are now. We didnt have a clue what we were going to do. We had no idea how we would be able to pay our bills and keep a roof over our heads. That is when my husband was approached by the President of the Board of the condominiums next door to be a live in Building Superintendent. I knew it was God doing this as Jim had no experience in this field. Jim turned the man down though and I was sure it was a bad mistake. We continued to go downhill for another year and saw two building Superintendents come and go next door. Then another man who was different from the one who had originally approached Jim, the new Board President came over and asked my Jim to take the job. Then he disclosed it came with an one bedromm apt utilities included and a monthly salary. Well Jim could not turn him down. To make a long story short we have been here now for 8 yrs and Jim's salary has increased to triple what he first made here. It has given me time to write and publish 4 books and spend a lot more time doing work for the Lord. God is so good!

Kealtis "Key" Austin
Kealtis "Key" Austin Father God, I come into agreement with this prayer.  I also thank you Pastor for the devotional today, just to affirm what God is doing in my life.  I felt that my prayers were going no higher than the ceiling and that I just wasn't making a difference in anyone's life, especially my own.  I'm believing in Him to truly bless me with opened doors and changes in my life.  Since our relationship has become stronger, and He knows all of my need, I know He will provide.  In Jesus Name.

Sylvia Schmidt
Sylvia Schmidt You are speaking right into my situation. Thank you so much. I have a job at college that depresses me to go back to in July. I have enjoyed working these few months teaching in a high school. After one month they have been like family to me. But it is ending and I am quite sad. Layoffs at the school. In desperation I applied to a teaching job at the college but did not get it after the interview. Just want to teach. That is all. Not sure where to go from here. Trying to apply for term jobs. Everyone says to be a substitute teacher. But it is casual on call work and for me as a single mom, if would be stressful to make ends meet.it seems to be the only way to get a teaching  job. Unknown is happening to me. Asking for prayer anoit this. Want to avoid depression and EA job which causes me depression. Teaching is where my heart is.

Richard Mondello
Richard Mondello This message is right on time with my life and the constant change in it. God has removed many people and things from my life over the course of it but for some reason I'm still here. Why, only God knows and His reasons for. I've seen too many people die as well as being at too many funerals and carrying caskets. I stopped asking God, WHY because I've learned from Him that the answer doesn't matter, but it's what He's teaching me at the time and what I'm learning through it all that matters. The only answer I have is that He has taught me to trust Him no matter what storm I face in life. It's been a series of hard lessons but i've got to believe He's taking me where I need to be and creating in me the character and bond with Him that I need. Praise God for His ways are true,Amen!
