Training Wheels from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the journey of becoming more like Jesus, and it is a journey. I will be talking mostly about the life of the Apostle Peter, but I want to begin with something Jesus said to all of His disciples in Luke 6:40: A d...

let's hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful. Let's consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day appr...

By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went. By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the ...

A Fresh Start

  • Jesus, standing up, saw her and said, 'Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?' She said, 'No one, Lord.' Jesus said, 'Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.' John 8:10 WEB

One day while Jesus was teaching in the temple, the religious leaders brought in a woman who had been caught in the very act of adultery and stood her in front of the crowd. They asked Him what they should do and reminded Him that the law said to stone her.

The religious leaders knew that Jesus was gentle, loving, and merciful, and wanted to trap Him in His words so they could accuse Him for breaking the law. Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground and said, 'Let him who is without sin, cast the first stone.' Then they all left, from the oldest to the youngest, until Jesus and the woman were alone.

Basically, everyone there was guilty of sin, and it would just be one sinner stoning another sinner. John said that if we claim that we have no sin, that we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8). Jesus did not condemn her for her past, but instead told her to go and sin no more.

People will look down on you. The Lord Jesus does not. If you have a checkered past, just let it be in the past. Start today fresh, forgiven, and from this day forth, walk with Jesus. Don't point fingers at others and remember that those that look down their nose at you, are no better than you. Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future, and without His grace, we are all lost.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy. I pray that You fulfill Your will in my life and lead me into all that You have for me. Open the doors that I should go through and close the doors that I should stay out of, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Kath Paro
Kath Paro Dion~ This is something I need to her.  I am not sure how to respond.  I don't condemn anyone outwardly.  Mentally I do.  I judge people in my mind.  I do not verbally say anything against others.  So I bought I was ok, but I see I was not.  Since I have turned my life completely to God, I no loner have those thoughts.  My sins have been forgiven, Jesus has not condemned me.

James McDaniel
James McDaniel I work in education and almost daily I have students talk about their past with me and more often that not, they speak negative about themselves. I always ask each student the same question. "Is that who you are today? Is that who you plan to be in the future?" The answer is almost always no. What is in the past is in the past. We must strive to be better today than we were yesterday and even better tomorrow. Thank you for this message.

Deleted Member Amen, what a beautiful way to express how much each student means to you and to Jesus and there is nothing to hard or to big that Jesus can't take care of it for them. POSITIVE SPEAKING, God bless you for touching the lives of your students.

Cheryl Hepler Love replies to your students.  Teachers have often the access to speak with them to see in their selves where as in conversations with those close to them at home or in friendships they could not have received. Glad to hear this story.  So many teachers seem to be the ones having to help students with their self worth.  Many parents are often lacking parenting as they grew up. A generalization pass down of teachings given to them. An  out  cry of a world so in need of Jesus's love!  This task is huge done one person at a time & much prayer.

Deleted Member An awesome reminder, to let Jesus be the judge and we just try to live the best we know how to live, so that through our lives we may help bring others to know Jesus as their personal Savior. Because if wasn't for God's grace and mercy, WHERE WOULD WE BE?

Cheryl Hepler Love the prayer.  Truly want to only go through doors He wants for me.  This is the best way to travel with the One who walks along side me.  Yes, I have experienced doors that closed I did not understand or wanted them to stay open.  I would be a lot of prayer/conversation with the Lord.  But letting go I saw in hindsight it truely was the best.  Thank you Lord!!

Sylvia Todd
Sylvia Todd Hi Bev! As a woman myself, I'm not sure what you're seeing there. None of the people there were mentioned by name, except for, of course, Jesus. Sure, it was men who condemned her...we know we lived in a flawed world and there has been tons of oppression of many people groups, including women. Jesus, however, did not condemn her and was able to send everyone in the crowd off, handing their heads, so I see it as a positive situation, in the end :)!
