For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little. Isaiah 28:10 WEB.We had scattered pieces all over the table while we worked on assembling a jigsaw puzzle. It was a total mess. This one was mysteriously difficult, for someone had mistakenly...

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are ...

Shock Treatment

  • All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby. Hebrews 12:11 WEB

While at school, I learned to read and write, add and subtract, and much more. However, many times it was after school that the learning really began for me. Dad would tell us 'That electric fence will shock you so stay away from it', but what did he know about life. After all, I was now six years old.

One day while trying to step over that electric fence, I found that he was right! Actions speak louder than words and this time I remembered it well. Now I fully understood that his words were meant to protect me from unnecessary pain. For those of you who have never grabbed an electric fence, be assured that it is something that you will remember the rest of your days. Some things, we just need to learn the hard way.

Many times the Lord will give us a little warning, and if we persist, let us go on our way. His word is there to protect us, but He will not force us to obey it. If you want to avoid the shocks, burns, and scratches, be quick to listen.

Even when we just go ahead and do something totally stupid, He is there to pick us back up in His loving arms without even an, 'I told you so.' He is a loving Father who only wants the best for us. Now if we would only listen.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your mercy on my life for I am still breathing today. Help me to recognize when You are speaking and give me the grace to be obedient, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Jim Jarrell My mom use to tell us that the stove would burn you, but I guess we did not realy believe her until it burned the hyde off of us. If you were like me, mom would come running when she heard one of us in pain, and do everything in her power to sooth that pain. That is who God is, but religon has taught us something so differant.

Mark Duell
Mark Duell Amen. Yep, some of us are slow learners by choice. We really have to know how something works. Being told or reading the instruction manual isn't enough. We have to find the real source of how things work the hard way. But sometimes I think it makes us stronger and more usable. Finally sometime in life as you get older and wiser you start to read the instructions and follow them. It makes life a little less painful.

Diane Symborski✝
Diane Symborski✝ Amen Thank you Pastor Dion! Jesus, give us all the wisdom to know to walk like you. To try and protect our heart. soul and mind. Let ua all come closer as we learn more each day. I pray in Jesus. Name.  Pastor, Dion, I know that shock it hurts. I was at a friends farm and he had a fence around the cows. I was standing close to the fence and started to slip on the grass. My friend was there beside me saw me falling she grabbed me I grabbed the fence and we both got shocked. I'm not sure if she got shocked from me or if she grabbed the fence too. We both looked at each other. We said to one another that fence just shocked me. We didn't even know that it was electric fence. We was at a pig roast and they had a band in the barn. Chris and I thought that we would take a walk around the farm. It was a shocking experience.

Kath Paro
Kath Paro Amen Dion!  In my history, 54 year of learning, I have found myself to be slow on the uptake many times.  I seem to have to learn like the hard way.  My Higher Power has been so patient with me and has never given up.  I don't like reading this story about me but it make me see trust and obey.  This devotion will help me from trying things over and over that don't work.
