For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little. Isaiah 28:10 WEB.We had scattered pieces all over the table while we worked on assembling a jigsaw puzzle. It was a total mess. This one was mysteriously difficult, for someone had mistakenly...

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are ...

Catching Fire in the Rain

  • Let us acknowledge Yahweh. Let us press on to know Yahweh. As surely as the sun rises, Yahweh will appear. He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain that waters the earth. Hosea 6:3 WEB

During the long hot summer of the south, the fields can get so dry that the crops just sit dead. The one thing that they need to restore life and make everything right, is a good rain shower. Once the rain comes, the fields spring back to life, and the plants start growing again.

There was a season in my life where I became borderline burnout. We had overly served at church for the last few years, and it was too much of a good thing. The harvest truly was plentiful, but the laborers were certainly few, and a lot of those seemed lazy. It was a dry and cynical time in my life.

Some friends invited us to a Christian conference about three hours away, and we reluctantly agreed to go. The conference lasted three days. On the first day we joined the meeting and it opened with great praise and worship, followed by an anointed message. By the end of the day, I was feeling some better.

The second day was the same and soon I began to feel something inside of me coming back to life, like a fire being breathed on. By the third day, I was completely refreshed with a renewed vision for our life and fresh word from the Lord. I left the conference walking on air and thrilled to be alive. I caught fire, in the rain.

Many times in scripture God's presence is compared to rain on a dry and thirsty land. It is the one thing that can bring healing, satisfaction, and life where there is none. Hopes and dreams that were thought long dead, will suddenly spring back to life. There is nothing else like being in the presence of the Lord.

Our lives can get so busy, so full, and yet at the same time, so empty. There is only one thing that will make everything right: Spending time in the Lord's presence. As we spend time with Him, He makes the rest work out for us. He gives us clarity and fills the emptiness. It is truly like a replenishing rain.

Prayer: Father, rain on me. Rekindle the fire within me and breath Your presence on my life Lord. I want more of You. I want to live it and not just talk about it. Do whatever it takes, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Amen! Rain on me!!! I have felt that burnout! I have equally felt the springing back to life and I gotta say I like life much better;) Burnout is just another trick of the enemy to keep us down and distracted! I pray our Father rains life back to me EVERY time I let Satan and his tricks get me weary! Thanks again Pastor! You rock :) Pastor's Prayer: Father, rain on me. Rekindle the fire within me and breath Your presence on my life Lord. I want more of You. I want to live it and not just talk about it. Do whatever it takes, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Amen! I have found the time I set aside to be alone with my Abba Father is my favorite time of the day. In my golden years I seek Him more often and He blesses me abundantly.  My one regret is that I didn't seek Him as often in my younger days. Life's work, raising children , and other things left me spending less time with the one thing I needed most, ( being in His presence), just me and my Abba Father. Now this is my first priority everyday! I cannot go one morning without alone time with my Almighty Father, I seek Him and He sets my course for the day, He refreshes my soul and gives me everything I need to prevail over the enemy!

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!  God's Spirit quenched is as the desert you speak of even in the members of the church.  I wonder of those that stay in the place in a church what God thinks?  He loves them, died for them & rose for them!  God is not powerless ...we are.  We need Him, His Son & His Holy Spirit.  Only people that want more ...God can work in.  So those that stay dry up..I wonder if they are dry bones that eventually go ashes?
