They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey. The people spoke against God and against Moses: 'Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!' Numbers 21:4 WEB
The Israelites slowly made their way towards the promised land, but it took a lot longer than it should. In fact, it was only an eleven-day journey (Deut. 1:2), but it took forty years because of bad attitudes and disobedience. Grumblings of "I am thirsty!", "Where is the food" and "Are we there yet?" were probably heard throughout the crowd. God provided food for them, and they hated it.
Complaining all the way, they went around and around the same mountain until they all died. The complainers never did enter the promised land. All of them died in the wilderness, then their children went in along with Joshua and Caleb.
It is human nature to want to get where we are going. We set out to go to somewhere and we just want to get there. Always looking at tomorrow: when the weekend comes we are going to' when our vacation comes we are going to' when we retire we are going to' while completely ignoring our life that is quickly passing by today.
Remember this, your life is happening while on this journey, and how you react will determine how long it takes to reach your goals. Enjoy today, lighten up and laugh a little. Keep a positive attitude. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.
Prayer: Father, I thank You so much for the food that You have provided for me, and I appreciate it. Thank You for all that You do for me. Thank You that I am still breathing today. I am not ashamed to say that my help comes from You Lord and I am truly grateful. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
