  • The Day of Small Things from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. As with many of my messages, this was a word for me, but I will share it with you as I found it encouraging. I have been building a new social media website for Refreshing Hope behind the scenes for months. It is a massive undertak...
  • Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every city and place where he was about to come. Then he said to them, "The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send ou...

Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth dea...

Peer Pressure

  • Amaziah also said to Amos, 'You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: but don't prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house!' Then Amos answered Amaziah, 'I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore trees; and Yahweh took me from following the flock, and Yahweh said to me, 'Go, prophesy to my people Israel.' Now therefore listen to the word of Yahweh' Amos 7:12 WEB

Amos was a shepherd and took care of fig trees, but the Lord called him to go prophesy to the people of Israel. When he did, Amaziah, who was the priest of the king's sanctuary told him to stop talking, and leave the area. So we have an experienced royal priest who was a friend of the king, without the word of the Lord. Contrasted with Amos, the simple shepherd who carried the anointed word of the Lord.

God adores the little ones. He gives His word to them and fulfills His word with signs following. Everything Amos said came true, and then he went on to tell Amaziah that his wife would soon be a prostitute in the city. That was a bold step of faith and I am sure that it was frowned on by the elite priests that were present.

Jesus was a carpenter (Mark 6:3). Peter, James, and John were just uneducated, common fishermen, but they preached with a fire and boldness that astonished those listening to them (Acts 4:13).

Jesus told a parable about a Pharisee and a tax collector in Luke 18:10. The Pharisees were the religious elite, while the tax collectors were the lowest of the low and classed below prostitutes. After their prayers, Jesus said that the tax collector was more justified than the Pharisee.

When the Lord calls you to do something, don't let someone with more experience, more education, a higher position, and a negative attitude, hold you back from what God is doing in your life. When the Lord gives you the dream and then opens the door for you, step through it. He is more than able to support you. If you feel insignificant today, then you are a perfect candidate to be filled with His presence.

Prayer: Father, fill me with Your presence. Draw my heart to You. Speak to me and through me. I choose You today and pray that You fulfill Your perfect will in my life. Guide me, teach me, and let me grow in faith, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Twila Stierwalt I do believe that God does have a plan, and purpose for each of our lives, different plans for each of us. Psalm 139, The creator knows before we know. I pray that I will be still, wait, and listen so I can serve my LORD how He planed for me to.

Carol Pady Amen! I can so relate to this devotion. He has given me tasks that I was not experienced in and every time He has helped me succeed.  When I said , but Lord, He reminded me that if He brought me to it, He will bring me through it. Obedience is best. He teaches me new things all the time!

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler Thank you Dion,  mean to say but things I love about God I hear you say.  I may not be on top eaach day with current msgs but appreciate so when I get to read it is what the me inside is always glad to hear. Always aware of God growing up.  No teaching in particular.  He was not mentioned at home.  My parents I felt believed in their best way.  Pain for both growing up.  My Dad's father taped his mouth to the back of the kitchen gas stove where my Dad found him.  His brother was younger & put above my Dad like a pedalstal.   His Mother raised them in her parents home.  She had her hands full working two jobs.   My Mom left school in 8th grade to raise her baby brother.  Both parents had died.  She had a sister & older brother.  Mostly did waitress or store clerk work.  My Dad the same.  My brother & I did not have much. but as a family we hovered around  each other.  A try TG in mes my Dad & I played  cards &laughed some..  As we grew older I did not feel comfortable with my brother.  I felt fear.  I was not comfortable with men.  Not with mostly anyone.  Kids said go home Rebel because I was born in South.  Not comfortable in school at all.  God has been the only one to make me feel accepted.  Animals made me comfortable & acceptable.  My husband makes me feel comfortable.  Mostly men make uncomfortable & I really don't feel comfortable with women either.  Jesus accepts me as I am.  It means a lot to me.  I like RHM for I feel comfortable here. Glad to contribute to this ministry.  Jesus is here.  The way His Word shows or says.  You ,,& Sylvia do to because Jesus is reflected thru you both.  People are hungry for Him that is why I believe this ministry grows.  A soul can taste Him here.   I am comfortable here because He's here.  I would love to be here more but life gets full.  Now also with a soon 6 mo old & now a ,2 1/2 yr old Bassettes.  My neighbor is an ARL Rescue.  I am praying & going to tell her about Jesus.. We talk about God.  Next is His Son:). Thank you for being here. Glad to have found  this place where God is.. The one true God!!
