In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! I AM! Don't be afraid." Peter answered him and said...

Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

Cruise Control

  • For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end. You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11 WEB

Have you ever gone into your prayer room thinking that you were right in step with the Lord, but came out in tears after seeing just how far off you really were? I have, more than once. I call it Cruise Control.

When things begin to go smoothly in your life and everything is working like it should, and your prayers have been answered, it becomes easy to grow complacent. To just drift and let the current carry you along.

Of course you still pray, you still go through the motions, but your whole heart is not in it, and your mind is always somewhere else. As surely as you breathe, you eventually drift off course and the sooner that you correct it, the better.

God is always welcoming us into His loving arms. He is always there for us just a prayer away. Make some time for God today. Ask the Lord to make what is important to Him, important to you. Intentionally seek out the Lord's presence as if you mean it. There is a great reward for those that do. He promised that we would seek Him and find Him, when we search Him with all of our heart.

Prayer: Father, I seek You today. Lead me into all that You have for me. Help me to see through Your eyes and make what is important to You, important to me. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning and happy Monday! The highlighted group of the week is "What''s for Dinner?"! This group was created for sharing recipes, especially those that are "budget-friendly", cooking tips, stretching our grocery dollars, etc. It is not always easy these days, especially if you have to feed a family, and this group is a wonderful place to share and support each other! To join, just go to the "Groups" link on the site menu and you will find the list. Have a blessed day!

Linda Mastersedited: January 25, 2016 Pastor Dion... You have hit the nail on the head once again! But then you do that with great regularity! Thank you for your obedience in His service! You minister to me AND my husband EVERY day and we are so very blessed by it. We know that 'The Word' is directly from THE WORD... The Bible! and we appreciate that! Trish Hicks
Trish Hicksedited: January 25, 2016 Amen definitely right on target. However Pastor Dion I do have a question. This happens to me often. I don't know exactly what it is I do to get my focus back on the Lord for a never ending time., or so it appears to be in tune with him. Pastor Dion how does one get his or her focus on God and keep it there. I am having alot of marital issues. And almost everyday its something if its not my husband its the pets.I will spend somtime in the morning with him, read often during the day, spend some stime in prayer before bed, unless i am so tired i can't even keep my eyes opened to pray.I will just under my breath make up my own prayers in my thoughts instead of reading the prayers i uually read from prayers that avail much. So in doing all of that I often do feel like i am just going through the motions, with my mind clearly off the focus of him. How does one change that.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles I feel that way too some days Trish. All I can say is I just keep on trying and keep on praying for my focus to be where it should be and not on the enemy's distraction's. I know when the negative of any kind sneaks in that it's just Satan trying to keep my focus so I just keep refocusing;) Praying we both get  better at this soon:)

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt Hi Trish, I believe this is a God thing. God will bring things to your heart, Pray to Him from your heart, He knows your heart anyway. Meditate on His word, and pray it back to Him. One of my life verses is Psalm 62: 1-2,5-8. I pray this often to renew my mind. I say this very humbly, because it isn't about me, It is all about God. God has helped me through praying many scripture back to Him. God will bring these to your mind, just when you need them. We can't stop life, and God doesn't want us to, but we can include Jesus in our life. I hope this helps, It sure has helped me. Love Twila.

Dion Todd
Dion Todd Well, you can over analyze yourself and that is not good either. For me, spending time alone with the Lord in the morning helps me a lot and shapes my day. As far as keeping the fire burning, I find it like a lot like tending a fireplace, you have to maintain it or it will go out. There is no other way and you cannot automate it. On our recent trip, we were rushed and busy everyday with family and I rarely had time to be alone and pray, and wow can I tell it... As soon as the weather warms a bit, I will be doing a fast. ( I hate being cold and hungry and try to avoid long fasts in the winter. )

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt Jer 29:11, One of my favorite verses. It is diffentantly a HEART thing with my LORD. He knows the thoughts toward me, thoughts of peace not evil. To give me hope in my latter end, I will call on Him and I will pray to Him, I will listen to Him, seek Him ,and I will find Him, when I search for Him with ALL of my heart. Thank you Pastor Dion, for this devotion.
