The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn't dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. Acts 17:24 WEBWhen I was growing up, we us...

RHM Devotional: Heroes and Monsters from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the potential of being a Hero, or a Monster, that exists inside each one of us. We get to choose. Once when Jesus was preaching from a boat, He told a parable about a man that sowed wheat in H...

He said to them, 'Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.' Mark 16:15 WEBJesus spoke these words to the eleven Apostles before He ascended to heaven. There is so much that could be said about this, but today we cover 'The Gospel.' The word Gospel means 'glad tidings, good...

The Buck Stops Here

  • if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 WEB

I have a Dilbert cartoon about tech support taped to our internet router because it reminded me of our service provider. Each time that we call them with a problem, they immediately say that it is our fault and then the problem is silently fixed.

In the cartoon, the technician answers the support telephone and the first thing that he said to the customer calling was: 'Your problem is with another company's products or services.' Without hearing, knowing, or caring what the problem was. The customer said 'But you haven't heard what the problem is yet.' To which Dilbert replied 'Let's pretend that will make a difference.'

As Christians, we often try to pass the buck onto the world or other groups, while we are the ones with the key. It is someone else's fault that we are in this situation, when actually we are trapped in a pit that we dug for ourselves. Many times we are reaping what we have sown.

There is only one way out of the pit: That we turn to God, humble ourselves and pray. Then He promises that He will hear from heaven, turn, and heal our land. Whether we caused it or not, we have the answer.

The answer is not politics or war, but seeking God. All through the Bible, God moved when His people got serious with Him. When they became lukewarm and backslidden, their nation fell apart.

Can Christians prosper in a fallen world? Absolutely! If we all were to humble ourselves (fasting), repent, and pray, then God will turn and heal our nation.

Prayer: Father I pray that You bring peace to our nation. Forgive us. Guide our leaders. Remove evil influences from our government. Fill our nation with Your presence and convict people of sin once again, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Norman Glaze Sr
Norman Glaze Sr Well Said Mark. As Men in The Body of Christ, I believe most of us should own up to our part in the Decline of our Nation. Where is the equivalent to the Jewish people, who when pricked to their Hearts about the Sins that had seperated them from God, would rend their garments and throw dust on their head? They were totally consumed with shame and sadness at how far they had drifted from God. If most of us were honest, we might have been standing by apathetically just wagging our heads saying, "Wow, this really sucks. Somebody should do something". I am praying for a Fresh annointing that breaks the Yoke of Lethargy and apathy. I applaud your honesty Brother.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Amen! Reaping the harvest and climbimg my way out! But I have been seeking the Lord all along! Maybe less sometimes than others but he is always in my heart! Praise God He is slow to anger, forgives quickly and always takes us back!! I would be lost without his forgiveness and love!! Thank you Pastor! Once again a timely reminder!   Pastor's Prayer: Father I pray that You bring peace to our nation. Forgive us. Guide our leaders. Remove evil influences from our government. Fill our nation with Your presence and convict people of sin once again, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Lisa Mathson
Lisa Mathson I have recently been convicted on this topic. My conviction was in regards to praying for our nation. Sure I pray for our nation and all her leaders but today things often feel so hopeless it's easy to just try not to think about it. So even though I was praying God told me I could pray more. Yea, one by one we can truly begin to make a difference. Have a blessed day everyone. Great devotional today as usual. Thank you.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Some people insist that God doesn't listen to our prayers. But I know for a fact that He does. Every one of my prayers have been answered---however, because God's timetable isn't like our, it may take time to see the answers. Just be patient, have faith, remain in His love, and wait on the Lprd. He never disappoints me!
