The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn't dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. Acts 17:24 WEBWhen I was growing up, we us...

RHM Devotional: Heroes and Monsters from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the potential of being a Hero, or a Monster, that exists inside each one of us. We get to choose. Once when Jesus was preaching from a boat, He told a parable about a man that sowed wheat in H...

He said to them, 'Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.' Mark 16:15 WEBJesus spoke these words to the eleven Apostles before He ascended to heaven. There is so much that could be said about this, but today we cover 'The Gospel.' The word Gospel means 'glad tidings, good...

Trust Me

  • Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 WEB

Paul had learned to be content in whatever situation that he found himself and saw beyond his physical circumstances. He realized that even though he was going through terrible trials that God was in control of his life. Here are just some of the things that happened to Paul:

'I am more so; in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in deaths often. Five times from the Jews I received forty stripes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I suffered shipwreck. I have been a night and a day in the deep. I have been in travels often, perils of rivers, perils of robbers, perils from my countrymen, perils from the Gentiles, perils in the city, perils in the wilderness, perils in the sea, perils among false brothers; in labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, and in cold and nakedness' (2 Corinthians 11:23'27).

As an Apostle, Paul had a hard life, but he understood that God was in control and that everything worked out just as it should every single time. He was thrown into prison, but led the jailor and his household to Jesus (Acts 16:27). He was shipwrecked, but led the island of Malta to Jesus (Acts 28:1).

Paul had a 'thorn in the flesh' and sought the Lord three times to take it away (2Cor. 12:7), but the Lord told him 'My grace is sufficient for you.' Paul realized that it was to keep him from being 'excessively exalted' from the great revelations that he had received. Jesus in Gethsemane prayed three times for something to be removed, but it was not either. They were both strengthened and encouraged to bear it.

The devil had limitations in what he could do in their life. There were boundaries set where he could do this, but no more. Just like in the book of Job, God set limits for satan: 'Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don't put forth your hand' (Job 1:12). Then later again: 'Behold, he is in your hand. Only spare his life' (Job 2:6).

Paul and Jesus understood that nothing was going to happen to them unless God allowed it. When Jesus was brought before Pilate He told him this:

'Pilate therefore said to him, 'Aren't you speaking to me? Don't you know that I have power to release you, and have power to crucify you?' Jesus answered, 'You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above' (John 19:10'11).

God takes full responsibility for the life wholly devoted to Him. When you are completely devoted to God, He will live through you, He will seek the lost through you. When persecutions and attacks come against you, God will take care of it, or He may take you through it and you will become stronger.

Nothing will come against you today that catches God off guard and the things that are meant to harm you, will only push you further down God's path for you. If I had not lost other jobs, I would not be a pastor today. Relax, God has got this.

Prayer: Father I thank You for taking care of me. I know that You are in control no matter how dark things appear. Draw my heart to You, teach me what I need to know, fulfill Your will in my life and let me live for You, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wylesedited: December 23, 2015 Some days, the thought of what I/ we must bare to be christians seems overwhelming... until I start looking at the options... there are no other options that lead to a life walking with God. I look back at   what I have been through and shutter at some of the curve balls God has allowed Satan to throw at me! And then I praise him for seeing me through what each time seemed like the darkest of days! I am afraid of pain, hurt, mental illness, cancer, toxic relationships, being oppressed and demoralized. I have also been through it all and came out the other side much stronger as a person and in my faith, because I let our Father lead me through it. No I have never had cancer but I have watched loved ones battle for their life! Some have won, some have been called home to rest. It has left a fear so strong I can only give it to Jehovah, our Father and know he understands. Yes I have struggled personally with the rest... and overcame because when I am weak, God is strong and holding me. The point I think I am trying to make here is while I feel overwhelmed sometimes, I also know God has the plan all along and if I live outside of God's mercy and grace, I can't benifit from his love and protection. We may have to walk through the fire but we have our Lord and Savior right there with us, carrying us through! And I thank God for that!! Thank you Pastor! Wonderful message today :) Blessings   Pastor's Prayer: Father I thank You for taking care of me. I know that You are in control no matter how dark things appear. Carol Pady Amen! I  know this Christmas will be a mixture of emotions. There are many reasons to be joyful and some reasons to be sad. I also know that my family will feel closer to Him as we all celebrate together.  There will be laughter mixed with tears. In the midst of it all Jesus will be with us.

Karen Pasquinelli
Karen Pasquinelli Amen!! Psalm 23 came to mind  The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
