Don't remember the former things, and don't consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don't you know it? If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 ESVSo there I sat in my prayer room, feeling washed up and wondering why I was there at all that day. After going through a drawn out messy divorce, I didn't go to church at ...

Song Birds

  • Aren't five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don't be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:6 WEB

We live in the South Carolina countryside and have a large oak tree in our yard, which is near our porch. We like to sit outside and read when the weather is nice and it is amazing to see how many different types of small birds come by when everything is quiet.

Here it is common to see blue jays, cardinals, doves, wood peckers, wrens, mocking birds, an occasional humming bird, and of course, the lowly sparrow. The air becomes filled with bird songs, and some of these little ones can sing really loud. I often wonder how so much sound can come from such a tiny head.

The birds are accompanied by squirrels running up and down the tree, occasionally stopping to look inquisitively at us. Last night I watched a possum walking along one of the limbs. The oak tree is home to so many creatures and a thriving community is happening there, all without our help. God cares for all of nature. 'The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth' (Psalms 29:9).

Jesus told us that not even a small sparrow is forgotten by God. While Luke writes that five sparrows were sold for two pennies (Luke 12:6), Matthew writes that two sparrows were sold for one penny (Matt. 10:29). So if you bought two pennies worth of sparrows, you got an additional one free. Not even that free sparrow is forgotten by God.

Have you ever felt the Lord has forgotten you? I certainly have had times when I felt like that, but we don't live by our feelings. The righteous will live by faith (Heb. 10:38). Feelings change like the wind, while God's word stands forever. Even the hairs on your head are all numbered (Matt. 10:30).

You may feel like the Lord does not care, but He wants you to know that He does care. You may feel that He doesn't know, but He wants you to know that He does know. You may feel that you have been forgotten, but He wants you to know that He will never forget His beautiful child.

So often we get concerned about this or that, when actually Jesus is the real answer to it all. We seek the desires of our heart directly, but God told us 'Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart' (Ps. 37:4).

The Lord knows exactly where you are today, you are not forgotten, His door is always open, and He wants you to trust Him. As you seek Him, your needs will be taken care of automatically (Luke 12:31). In God I trust.

Prayer: Father I thank You so much for loving me. I am sorry for my lack of trust when things get difficult. Please strengthen me, speak to me in a way that I understand and help me build a deeper relationship with You, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles It all comes down to trust and faith doesn't it? I have strong faith ...somedays... somedays I am grateful just to know the truth through all the lies in my head. It is good to know the truth that The Lord knows exactly where we are today, we are not forgotten, His door is always open, and He wants us to trust Him. As we seek Him, our needs will be taken care of automatically!  In God I trust. Thank you Pastor as you always seem to have the word I need :)

Karen Pasquinelli Amen!!!  I know God is always there, no matter what.  I have now come to a place in my life that even when things seem not so good, I just pray.  God never promised us a rose garden, he just promised he would always be there for us.  Sometimes our prayer requests takes time and sometimes they are answered right away.  God loves us we just need to keep our faith and love him no matter what.  If we seek we will find and if we ask we will receive.

Sylvia Froese
Sylvia Froese Thank you. I have had to stop going to see my counsellor due to financial problems and needing to give my kids more food to eat since they are growing and also Christmas is coming. I have done what I can to cut back on my bills to help the situation. I am worried about where my support will come from since I won't be seeing my counsellor in the next few weeks. I just can't afford it anymore. Thank you for all you have written here. I have been feeling like this, like God is forgetting about me. it's been so long since he's talked to me, it feels like. I think I need to spend more time getting quiet and finding God this weekend while my kids are at their dad's. Thank you for this reminder that God doesn't forget about us. I really needed to hear it lately. Bless you both.

Sylvia Froese
Sylvia Froese actually I think you misunderstood. I haven't heard from him in a long while so I feel I need to seek him again so I can hear from Him again. Thank you. I know he will provide for my needs. I just really need to pay attention and listen for his still small voice and put in the effort to do just that. Things are winding down in my life right now which is good.
