Walking on Water from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the importance of believing the Lord, of shaking off the naysayers and continuing on your own journey. People have a tendency to not want you to go where they have not been. Leaders cannot lead you, where they h...

Out of that terrible travail of soul, he'll see that it's worth it and be glad he did it. Through what he experienced, my righteous one, my servant, will make many 'righteous ones,' as he himself carries the burden of their sins. Therefore I'll reward him extravagantly' the best of everything, the ...

Who Ya Gonna Call

  • Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don't know. Jeremiah 33:3 WEB

When Jesus saw the crowds, He had compassion on them for they were lost and without a Shepherd. He would stop, teach, and heal them. He would touch them and heal their wounds. Jesus said several times in His teachings that He was the good Shepherd, and that He came to seek out and save the lost sheep.

Jesus is always there and just a prayer away from each of us. You can stop right where you are and invite Jesus into your situation. You don't have to face this alone. When you do not know the answer to the problem, He does.

So many times in my life, He has put me in a 'tight spot' with no one else to turn to but Him. I realize now that He was trying to build my faith and teach me to trust Him. When He began to push me into my own computer business, people that I had never heard of suddenly started calling me to come work on their computers.

It began simply enough, but grew more complex with every single call, like I was being trained in class. He enabled me to repair computer networks, when I had never seen one before. He taught me how to repair network databases via a command prompt, before the Internet became a resource, before we had cell phones, and with no one to call for advice anyway.

Time after time, He would push me into situations that were so far above my abilities that they caused me to 'almost' panic, with no one to turn to, and each one increasingly difficult. I prayed constantly under my breath and time after time watched the problem resolve itself. After years of this, I learned thoroughly that your abilities are pretty much irrelevant. Everything hinges on you getting in tune with what He has called you to do.

He anoints the one that He calls, to do the job that He gives them, and sometimes He chooses the least qualified. I grew up on a farm feeding hogs and had only seen computers on television. I quit school and was married by seventeen and worked as a common laborer in construction, but God said 'That's going to be my I.T. guy.'

The key is humbly leaning on Him for advice, for wisdom and knowledge, knowing that we cannot do it without Him. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would teach us 'all' things. 'But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you' (John 14:26). I have learned that 'all' literally means 'all,' everything, all things. In the original text, the word for "all" is 'pas', and means 'all, any, every, the whole, throughly, whatsoever.'

Many view God as an ancient being who is out of tune with modern times, but it is the exact opposite. He knows everything that is coming in the future as well. He shares new inventions with people.

God is 'on the cutting edge' from generation to generation. It is we who are trying to catch up and understand Him, not vice versa. He speaks to me in technical lingo at times that is so deep that I just stand in awe of Him. It is me wearing the dunce hat, not Him.

God invites us to ask Him for help 'But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him' (James 1:5).

If you are wandering through life today and feel a bit lost, look to Jesus, who is just a prayer away as He is already seeking you. He is 'The Good Shepherd' and He cares for His sheep. He will be as involved in your life, as much as you will allow Him to be. You can trust in Him.

Prayer: Father, I pray that You increase my wisdom. Reveal the things that are holding me back to me and give me the grace to deal with them. Help me break out, break through, take me to the next level, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Amen! I feel at times like a little child clinging to Jesus' hands as I learn to walk. These are times when He calls me to service in something unfamiliar.  As I walk with His assistance  , He teaches me until the time arrives when I can let go of His hands and not only walk but run!

Deleted Member Amen, what a beautiful way to put holding on to Jesus as He teaches us to walk and then being able to go out and do the work that Jesus has called us to do, but not only walk out, but run. Thank you for sharing. God bless  you, Carol. Love and prayers.

Leland Fay
Leland Fay Pastor Dion- my experience echoes yours. One of the most vital ways God taught me to pray was through technology. I was a liberal arts grad who found himself fixing computers. I can tell you without fail that I have never fixed a computer or network without calling upon God for help - EVER! I spent literally hours or days wrestling over tough problems and 'sweating it out' only to remember a) I needed to ask for help b) I needed to raise my mind and spirit up to believing he would provide it c) to be open to the solution in however it came / be open minded d) cast out any negative thoughts abd replace with the phrase thy will be done  as many times as needed until the solution came - and it did every time though I was willing to fail if that was His will ...to make a long story short I went from consultant to engineer for one of the largest companies in the world. I developed a reputation as a 'genius' among my peers but the reality is God made these things possibly, that on my own I am truly nothing the Father forth the world and those works can accomplish all things, even the most most complex and difficult problems! Amen!

Deleted Member God is so amazing, He can make us what He wants us to be for Him, even when we may not see, He does, He knows what is good for each of us and He wants His children to grow in Him, spiritually, physically, financially, emotionally, in every way. God is good.

Rob Clements I just asked him for more patients and wisdom. And for me to be slow to speak and quick to listen. And be kind to others even if they are nasty to me at work ! God hears me all the time.  Before I go to work it seems like when I read the devotion and always falls right along with the prayer I just ptayed ! God is so good to us and yes he is alive today and he always has been !!!
