For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn't hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth....

For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees? But if we hope for that which we don't see, we wait for it with patience. Romans 8:24 WEB'Oh I don't want to face tomorrow. I have a bad, bad, feeling about this.' On and on we go into a spiral of sel...

Baby Jesus from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about “Who is Jesus?” I feel that we take it for granted that people actually know that much about Him. In the world we see Jesus as a baby in a manger, then crucified on a cross. The life of Jesus seems to span...

The Dancing Preacher

  • You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 WEB

I had to get back to church early that afternoon because I was in the band and we needed to rehearse for the evening service. There was an evangelist from out of state visiting our church that day and when I got there, I unlocked the church door because I was the first to arrive, walked in and saw the strangest sight ever.

While everyone else had left after the morning service, he stayed behind, put on his headphones and began to worship God. When I opened the church door, he was dancing and spinning around the church with his arms in the air like King David (2Sam. 6:14, 1Chr. 15:29). His eyes were closed, his head phones were blasting praise, and he was lost in openly worshiping God.

Not wanting to embarrass or startle him, I slowly brought up the lights. When he saw me, he gave a quick wave and continued dancing as if I were not even there. He was certainly not embarrassed to have been caught worshiping the Lord, nor did he want to stop just yet.

When he spoke, he was one of the most anointed men that I have ever met. Every word of his message burned into your heart and you could hear God speaking through him. Revival followed him wherever he went, and at times what began as a one night meeting would last three weeks. That was twenty years ago and when I saw him again recently, he was still on fire for the Lord. He keeps the fire burning.

That day I saw that even though I was serving in the praise team, there were levels of knowing Jesus that I had not yet experienced. There was an intimacy to be had, to be sought after, just as King David had with God. It is still obtainable today, but you have to really want it.

God promises that you will seek Him and find Him, when you search for Him with all of your heart. All of it, not part of it. I am still seeking Him myself and pray that you do as well. Knowing God intimately is the greatest reward this life has to offer, and one day I would love to be as free as the dancing preacher.

Prayer: Father, I want more of You in my life. Consume me Lord, shake me up, break me out, set me free to serve You with my whole heart. I don't know what I need to do, but You do and I give You permission to make it happen, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Martin Snyder
Martin Snyder Pastor Todd, I too play in the band at the church and have played many years, under many different circumstances, in many different places (in a strip club for a bikers birthday was one of the most different). I can only wait with anticipation of the day we are all worshipping with total abandonment in the presence of God!

Deleted Member Giving our Praises to Jesus, through music, is awesome, because to me the music really sets the mood for the whole service, God inhabitats our praises, because He is so worthy.

Laura B. Martinez
Laura B. Martinez What a beautiful devotional Pastor Todd. Thank you for reminding me that I need to truly search God with all my heart. On a side note when I am jogging and listening to Christian music as I jog, I sing out at the top of my lungs. It's the most beautiful music there is.

Deleted Member That sounds like me, when I'm driving alone in my car, I sing with my whole heart, only Jesus can hear me, so I don't have to worry about Him critizises me, because He knows it comes from my heart, no matter how it sounds, its praise to the ears of Jesus, I am so thankful that I can sing Praises to Him, I wish I had a beautiful voice, but that isn't something I definately do not have, so I love the time in my car when Jesus can only hear me. God bless you Laura, I feel that you have a beautiful voice and keep on singing and praising Jesus in your worship as you jog. God bless you.

Conchita Bowman
Conchita Bowman This reminded me of Rev Harry Payton from West Virginia.  When I was growing up Rev Payton and his wife would come to Mount Airy, NC for him to preach and he and his wife would stay with us.  Harry loved my mama's cornbread.  He was a very entertaining preacher.  I remember one time the collection plate was a basket and he put it on his head as he preached.  There was never a dull moment when Harry was preaching.  He always got God's message across in simple terms that even I as a child could understand.  Thanks Pastor Dion for bring a wonderful memory to my mind.

Audry Reddy
Audry Reddy I remember the first time "I can Only Imagine " came on the radio in the restaurant where I work and I was singing and praising with my arms lifted up and I could see the snickers and the elbow poking that went on with my co-workers. It was playing on a secular station and I was praising God cuz it was the first time I was "having church " at work!!

Deleted Member Keep on Praising Him no matter where and when, He loves us and wants us to give Him Praise through it all, because He is so worthy. That song I can only imagine, is so special to me, my son sings it and it blesses me so much, but what blesses me most of all is that my son and his family are Christians and they live for Jesus and are raising our sweet little grandson to live for Jesus too, if I have ever accomplished anything in this life, it was raising a God fearing Son. PRAISE THE LORD FOR ALL THINGS GREAT AND SMALL.
