The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore stood they before the king. In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchante...

If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

The Rock of Ages

  • You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is an everlasting Rock. Isaiah 26:3 WEB.

How did I get caught up in this mess? Many times have I asked myself that question. Looking back, it always began with a thought that would become a desire if I didn't push it out of my mind. Before long, what started as a "harmless" thought had become a reality. For where the mind goes, the body will follow if given the opportunity.

Think of someone who quit smoking years ago but begins to think about having just one cigarette. Soon, it becomes a desire. Then, surprise, there is an opportunity. The battle starts in our minds, and our thought life guides our future actions. In the same way, if the mind stays in the gutter, your spirit will soon be covered in slime. Your thought life is like a slippery staircase.

When we constantly think about tomorrow's troubles, we become anxious, fearful, worried, and depressed. It robs us of our energy, time, and strength. Don't let that be you; make the most of today. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34). Isaiah said that God would guard and keep the one whose mind is kept on Him in constant peace. When you are focused on God, you will overcome the world's troubles and not be overwhelmed by them.

Nothing coming tomorrow is too difficult because nothing is impossible for God (Luke 18:27). The Lord's arm is not too short to deliver you (Numbers 11:23, Isaiah 59:1). No weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31). The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6).

Focus on God today and what He has for you in His promises and words. Stop worrying about tomorrow, and fight to keep your mind out of the gutter if it drifts there. God is unchanging, loving, and all-powerful, truly the Rock of Ages. He can take care of you, no matter how bad the situation looks. He invented faithfulness.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please let me see through Your eyes and get in tune with what You are doing on the earth today. I want to know You more deeply. I want to be filled with Your presence, Lord. Give me victory in my thought life, and help me to focus on You. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.' (Philippians 4:6-7) ~ If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
