The Words of Life

  • Jesus said therefore to the twelve, You dont also want to go away, do you? Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God. John 6:67 WEB.

Peter had to come to know Jesus as the source of all knowledge, grace, power, eternal life and so much more. He is the living, breathing, Son of Almighty God and Jesus has the answer, or IS the answer, to any question still today.

Jesus did not only come to redeem us, but also to give us life everlasting and a future to live now. He helps us live our lives everyday in the best way possible, to walk in the light today. That is why Paul wrote Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". It is here and now, present tense.

So many times I have spent hours working on something, only to find that I could have done it much faster if I had known some small detail. When I finally walked away from it for a few minutes and prayed, I suddenly knew the answer. Have you ever struggled with something only to find out the solution was actually very simple?

It is always what we dont know that holds us back. We dont actually know what we dont know, until someone that does, tells us. After you understand them and have the insight, then things become simple. Jesus was so full of wisdom that everyone could see it. He had the answers to all of the hard questions and it was given to Him by the Holy Spirit whenever He needed it. Jesus prayed a lot.

God said, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hos. 4:6). James said, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously (James 1:5). Joshua and the Israelites always inquired of God when making decisions. The one time they did not, they were deceived (Joshua 9:14).

God is able to give you the answers to the most difficult questions and reveal the simple path that will take you through the minefield, if you will take the time to pray and ask. He knows everything and He has all of the answers. To whom else could we go? He knows what we dont know. Always take the time to inquire of the Lord, everyday, here and now.

Prayer: Father, guide me, teach me what I dont know. Help me navigate this life in the best way possible. Lord, I need You and I welcome You to be a part of my life today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Mark Duell
Mark Duell I laughed when I read your example when your working on something. I don't know how many times I've done the same. And as you have done, I have walked away and prayed to our Lord for guidance and come back and see the answer staring me in the face. Things go so much smoother then. Thank you for your devotional again.

Sylvia Todd Amen, Mark, there is no better way :)! There was one time we were at an office, trying to figure out why one of their units was only working intermittently, I think the copier. It was kind of puzzling, but Dion heard from the Holy Spirit that day, just plugged it into another outlet, and voila, back in action :).

Joan Joseph
Joan Joseph Thank you Pastor for this awesome message. I have learned by making too many wrong choices in my life, to not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Phil 4:6). Before you make a decision give it to the Lord first. To God be the glory forever, amen.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield As I look back, I realize the answers to ALL my most challenging questions were actually quite simple! We may not see the answers as we are in the midst of a crisis; that's why we need God to direct and guide us. He will never, ever ignore our prayers. And if it appears as if our prayers are being ignored, all we have to do is read Daniel Chaptyer 10.  I really believe Satan is still involved in his dirty business of intercepting and interfereing. But we have to take heed, because Jesus conqured Satan! Patience is the key!

Sylvia Todd Amen, Kathy! I've found that as well. I used to puzzle over things that people would tell me, trying to wrap my head around them and figure out how to work them into my theology. Later, the Lord would show me that it's much more straightforward than that. I think that makes so much sense, because Jesus was out there ministering to the poor, people who didn't have the educational opportunities that the Pharisees had. Why would He make it so complicated that they couldn't get it?

Deanne Rascas
Deanne Rascas In the past I have made poor choices and decisions based upon my own thinking. The Holy Spirit has shown me that only the right decisions can come from God and not my own understanding. My life has changed for the better because now I pray about everything! God is so good! Than you Pastor for taking every day to give us something to think about. I always start my day by reading your sectionals that have uplifted the rest of my day!

Paul Cook
Paul Cook Well I can say that I have been asking for this kind of wisdom and knowledge for a long time and I get absolutely nothing. I believe that Jesus can do anything, but just because he can, doesn't mean he will. I've given up on asking in good faith because it's not going to happen. I know that he could give me the wisdom I need, but now I'm sure that he won't. I guess that's living life on life's terms.

Dion Todd
Dion Toddedited: September 6, 2015 Hi Paul, I know disappointments build up and our faith grows weak but we must keep our hope. Unbelief will get you no where with God. You cannot confess that God will do nothing for you, if you want Him to. I pray that the Lord will guide you, teach you, and strengthen your faith in the name of Jesus Christ.    “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;” (James 1:6–7 ESV)   “So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.” (Hebrews 3:19).    “And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief.” (Mark 6:5–6 ESV)

Paul Cook
Paul Cook Unbelief may get nowhere but asking in faith gets me nowhere either. God has made it clear to me that I'm on my own. I need his help, guidance and knowledge which is what I pray for, especially for my kids but I get nothing if not worse. I believe strongly in God and Jesus but he's made it clear that I'm on my own. I pray all of the time for his wisdom with no response. My son tells me that he thinks God just wants some people to suffer in which I tell him that this couldn't be further from the truth and reassure him. However inside I choke on my words knowing that history is proving him right. God may not be willing to help, but I won't sit back idle. I at least will fight for my son. I would love to do that with a higher and greater knowledge, but obviously that's not going to happen. If I didn't believe, I wouldn't have waited this long. By your reasoning, everyone should just sit around and do nothing about anything and wait possibly forever.

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler Love the verses.  Think they should be printed and hung so when in need of a solution etc when we go wrong I just look up and see those.  Times have had financial troubles.  We tithe and we like to give offerings.  Sometimes we wonder are we giving enough or too much.  This is something we pray about for understanding and wait to know.  I often have lost things and it comes to me to ask for He sees evrything and therefore knows where it is.  I love it!  It gets found.  Thank you Pastor Todd
