Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith. In the same way, wasn't Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead. James...

However you are just in all that is come on us; for you have dealt truly, but we have done wickedly; neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept your law, nor listened to your commandments and your testimonies with which you did testify against them. For they have not ser...

Working For The Weekend

  • As it was in the days of Noah, even so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man. They ate, they drank, they married, and they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ship, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Luke 17:26'27 WEB.

As Noah worked on the big boat in his yard day after day, life went on around him as usual. People were eating, drinking, attending weddings, and carrying on with their lives. They were completely unaware that the end was quickly approaching. Though Noah was a righteous man and preached to them (2 Peter 2:5), they didn't listen. They probably thought Noah was an old crackpot.

Then the day came when the door of the ark was shut, and the rain started to fall. Certainly, people scrambled to get into the ark after the rain started, but it was too late. Noah may have even wanted to let them in, but God sealed the door Himself. When the door was shut, those who were inside stayed inside. People who were outside remained outside. It was too late to say, "Hey, wait on me! I want to go to!"

The day is coming like a thief in the night when the Lord Jesus Christ will return to the earth like a bolt of lightning (1 Thessalonians 5:2-3). It will be an instantaneous BAM! and He is suddenly here. Coming as a "thief in the night" is not a silent attack. Thieves in biblical times were not like sneaky cat burglars. It was a sudden surprise attack with a dagger in the back and loud shrieking. I don't know what all will happen on that day, but Jesus warned us several times to not let it catch us unaware like the foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1).

Enter in by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in by it. (Matthew 7:13).

It's pretty clear to me that not everyone will be saved, no matter how hard we try. Each person on earth has to choose for themselves, and this decision can't be made for them by others. Many are just too caught up in life to be bothered eating, drinking, and marrying, as in the days of Noah. Many are just working for the weekend.

God loves you, and He wants you to enjoy your life. You can still have fun. Just include Him in whatever you are doing. Don't forget about Him as they did in the past. When I go fishing, He goes with me. If I feel Him prompting me to do something else, well, I just do that instead. He wants a meaningful relationship with you. You will never be caught off guard if you just take some time to pray and listen. Remember, there is more to this life than "working for the weekend."

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I look to You today. Please walk with me, talk with me, and help me know You better. Speak to me in a way that I understand. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Amen and Amen!!! Thank you, my Lord and God, for walking with me in good times and in bad times, we, who believe in You know that we will face problems, tribulation and trials in this life here on earth, but we also know that You are with us just as much as we know that we are safely resting in Your hands!!!

I love the original poem penned by Mary Stevenson called "Footprints in the sand" talking about low periods in our lives, and the only footprints seen in  the sand were the Lord's carrying us!!

I can testify to this looking back as far as I can remember! So, why should I worry or fear, HE has my future in HIS hands, blessed be His holy name!!! (h5)

Indeed,  that's the whole point:we can't earn our salvation, no matter how hard we try. Jesus already paid the price for us. Now it's up to us to acknowledge Him as our savior God.
