Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth dea...

By faith Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which ...

Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its se...

David Had A Little Lamb

  • David said to Saul, Your servant was keeping his fathers sheep; and when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after him, and struck him, and delivered it out of his mouth; and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and struck him, and killed him. 1 Samuel 17:34 WEB

As a shepherd caring for the sheep, David knew each one of them. He was there when they were born, he knew their parents, he knew why they were different. He had seen this one get picked on at the water trough and now they were frightened to be around others. This other one had a black spot that set her apart from the rest. He saw the squabbles between them and who hung around with who. Each was unique and special in their own way.

When a lion or bear took one of the sheep from his Fathers flock, David chased it down and killed it. He rescued the lamb and brought it back. That is what shepherds are supposed to do. They go after the lost sheep and the ones that went astray for whatever reason. They try their best to protect them and keep them safe.

We work for the Father and His number one concern is the flock, and in particular the ones that are missing when night falls. I could quote a lot of scripture but really Jesus said it all in Matt 18:12 and Luke 15:4 where a man with one hundred sheep left the ninety-nine to go after the one that was lost.

If you are in any kind of leadership, meditate on Ezekiel 34: "As shepherds we are to rescue the ones that are dragged away by the enemy, and not feed on them."

If you are lost, have gone astray, or never knew Him, know that God is seeking you and calling your name. He knows your parents, your life, who you hang out with, and He knows and understands why you act the way that you do, because He was there. He knows your black spots, and they are ok. You are unique, He knows everything about you and He just wants you back safe with Him.

Prayer: Father I pray that use me to reach someone and bring them to You. Give me an encouraging word to speak to someone. Cause Your thoughts to flow through my mind. Increase the boldness in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield After reading this message, I was prompted to go back and re-read Ezekiel again, particularlary Chapter 34.The Bible never ceases to amaze me! For the "Good Shepherd" is just one of the many themes that God uses to reinforce His messages to us. There are others, such as "bread', "blood" and others, but I think the Good Shepherd is my favorite. And it's amazing how the Bib;e's messages are always new and freah, even if I read the very same passages in the past!

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Amen! God's eyes are forever upon us. He never sleeps. He hears all, sees all and knows what we are thinking! There is nowhere we can hide from Him . He is our loving Almighty Father, always waiting eagerly for our attention,  welcoming our communion with Him. Nothing can separate us from His love. Even when we walk away, He never turns His back on us. He simply waits for us to return back to Him, and rejoices when we do!

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler So good....meat this is.  I see the Shepard, Jesus, as so concerned for us and what He'll do to protect us or step towards us to bring us back in His safe keeping.  Very good.  Good friend of many years went away from the Lord.  It hurt so...she brought me to Christ.  Several U.S. Joined together with me to pray.  I called her to visit and she said, no way!  Don't try to come to me for it will not work.  Grief for quite awhile for myself & others close to her.  Over 25 years now for she was in our wedding.  Pray every time I think of her.  Believe God will get her to His self.
