He told them this parable. 'Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?' Luke 15:3 WEBWhen I first got serious about serving the Lord Jesus, I was a musician and played ...

Yahweh spoke to Manasseh, and to his people; but they didn't listen. Therefore Yahweh brought on them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains, bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. When he was in distress, he begged Yahweh his God, and humbled himse...

One Drop of Blood

  • Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree, that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13 WEB

In Roman times, slaves were sold on an auction block under a spear. When a spear was held out over their head it signified that this was a slave for sale. In Romans 7:14 Paul wrote that he was a slave, sold under sin. Sin was the spear being held over him. Sin was the cause of him being a slave.

A slave has no say about what they will do with their lives. It is up to the slave master to decide. One may be a cook, and another a prostitute. One may appear more respectable than another, but really they are just serving their masters wishes. Anyone unredeemed is in this state of existence. They are used by satan however he wishes to use them.

Jesus came one day and bought us back. Redeemed literally means To Buy Back. With His own blood, Jesus bought us slaves back from the devil and now we are free people. The devil can no longer make you be a prostitute or a drug dealer, his power over you is now broken. When you accept Jesus you are no longer a slave to sin.

In fact, it goes much farther than that. Not only were we slaves that He bought back, we were set free from condemnation (John 3:18), free from judgement (John 5:24), free from the power of death (John 8:51), and our alienation from God ended because God adopted us into His own family (John 1:12). If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36). Truly no one could have said it better.

That said, what you feed in your life will grow, and what you starve will die. Each time that you resist temptation, you will grow stronger against it and it will become easier to resist. The opposite is true as well. Each time that you yield to temptation, you become weaker, and it becomes easier to do it the next time.

With the precious blood of His only Son Jesus, God bought us back from slavery. No longer are we in bondage unless we choose to be by our own actions. He can open the cell door, but sometimes we remain in the cell because it is what we are used to. Through the Blood of Jesus, I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for saving me and setting me apart. I long for more of You in my life. Thank You for redeeming me from the curse of the law. Set me free from the things that hold me back and guide my every step. Take away the desires that are not of You, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Shelby Casey Yes, thank you Jesus for making me free indeed. Help me to understand and receive that wonderful gift so that I can go about doing your will as a member of the family not a slave to temptation and self-deception.   Thank you Pastor Dion for your time of personal study and revealing your understanding of the scripture that is a result of that study to all of us.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Most of my life (from age 14 until 48) I was enslaved to food.I always loved the Lord, and being raised Catholic, I duitfully recited the Rosary and went to Mass every Sunday--but my true god was butter and ice cream! It's the same with illicit drugs or alcohol, gambling, sex--all those addictions keep us as slaves. But there IS a way out--JESUS! I am still amazed how I could go through the motions all those years and still not know the Lord as I do now! The difference is incredible. It took a long time--many years, many prayers and tears--but God does listen. We just have to persevere and never give up, never doubt that His precious blood can and will redeem us! Today is the first day since my surgery that I feel like "me" again! Praise our good Lord!

Albert Chauedited: September 1, 2015 Wow... this is a great message for me. I have been enslaved to my past mistakes and failure and could not get past them. These words from you pastor Dion really hit home and woke me up from my depression. "He can open the cell door, but sometimes we remain in the cell because it is what we are used to. Through the Blood of Jesus, I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil."
